4 Your Itinerary in Detail Day 1 Arrive Lima Arrive at any time. Arrive in Lima at any time. There are no planned activities so check into the hotel and enjoy the city. There is a welcome meeting in the evening. Please note: if you booked the Culinary Theme Pack it does not include extra time in Lima and we highly recommend booking pre-trip accommodation. You will be picked up from the hotel at approx 10:00 and taken to a local market and restaurant to prepare and enjoy a traditional Peruvian meal. You will return back to the hotel around 13:00. Also note that hot water shortages and power outages can be fairly common in Peru (even in upgraded hotels and private homes). We appreciate your patience and understanding that these occurrences are outside of our control. Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting 1h 18:00 The adventure begins tonight. Feel free to explore, but make sure you're back in time to meet the group. After introductions, your CEO will review the details of your tour. Day 2 Lima/Cusco Early flight to Cusco. Free day for shopping and exploring the city. Optional city tour. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cusco (the flight usually departs early - the group may leave the hotel by 4:30 am). The day is free to relax and explore the fascinating city of Cusco, and to acclimatize to the altitude. Plane Lima - Cusco 1h-1h30mMorning Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! Optional Activities Cusco City Tour Cusco Enjoy a half-day tour of Cusco's main sights. Walk around the Plaza de Armas (main square) and explore this city steeped in one of the world's most alluring and ancient cultures. Visit Qenqo, Koricancha, the Cathedral, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay, and the archaeological site of Sacsaywaman.

5 Your Itinerary in Detail Day 3 Cusco/Ollantaytambo Enjoy a full-day guided tour of the Sacred Valley. Stop at the G Adventures-supported women's weaving coop before exploring the Pisac ruins. Break for lunch at the G Adventures-supported Parwa community restaurant in Huchuy Qosco. Finish the day exploring the Ollantaytambo ruins with a local guide. Travel through the stunning Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting a G Adventures-supported women's weaving co-op. Meet the women and learn about traditional weaving and dyeing. Opt to pick up some handmade souvenirs and textiles directly from the women who made them. Take a guided tour of the impressive Pisac ruins, the colourful artisan market (on market days only), and the small indigenous village of Huchuy Qosco. Have lunch at the G Adventures-supported Parwa community restaurant. Learn about the G Adventures for Good project and eat a delicious buffet-style lunch. Proceeds of this meal go directly back to the remote community. Continue on to the town of Ollantaytambo. Take a guided tour of the large ruin site adjacent to the town. Ollantaytambo is the first taste of what lies ahead in Machu Picchu. Ccaccaccollo Community and Planeterra-Sponsored Women's Weaving Co-op visit Calca 1h Visit the Ccaccaccollo community centre which G Adventures travellers' donations helped create through Planeterra Foundation in 2005, thereby enabling local women to sell traditional textiles to travellers. See local weaving and dyeing techniques used to create garments and souvenirs, and learn how the Planeterra weaving co-operative has impacted the community and those who visit it. This includes the purchase of alpacas to provide a steady supply of wool, looms, and sewing machines as well as several training courses on production, sales and small business management. Pisac Ruins Guided Tour Pisac 45m-1h Tour the fascinating hilltop citadel of Pisac, an Incan ruin with plunging gorges, a ceremonial centre, and winding agriculture terracing that's still in use today. Be captivated by this truly amazing site sitting amid sweeping green valleys and mountain peaks. Explore the back of the site to see a pocketed cliff across Kitamayo Gorge, which once contained hundreds of Inca tombs. Ollantaytambo Ruins Guided Tour Ollantaytambo 1h Tour the town and fortress of Ollantaytambo with a local guide. Take a step back in time at this Inca archaeological site; it still shows signs of its former glory, including agricultural terraces, a Temple Hill, and storehouses. Learn how the area, overlooking the Urubamba River Valley, was an important stronghold during warfare between the Spanish and Incas. Day 4 Ollantaytambo/Cusco Return to the Sacred Valley with the CEO to visit the sites of the Maras Salt Mines and Moray. Spend the evening in Cusco. When the hikers leave in the morning, return to Cusco with the CEO, visiting the sites of the Maras Salt Mines and Moray on the way. Maras Salt Mines and Moray Visit Maras - Moray Drive a little more than an hour to get to the Moray archaeological site. Tour these unique Inca ruins, consisting of circular terraces and a sophisticated irrigation system located at 3500m (11483 ft). Learn about the history and study of this fascinating site - speculation has it that it was an Inca agriculture experiment station. Visit the impressive Maras Salt Mines, after Moray. See thousands of individual ancient salt pools spilling over a hillside. Learn about the different varieties of salt, and try the renowned pink salt, famous worldwide.

Cusco City Tour and Market Visit Cusco 4h Live like a local today and enjoy a unique tour of Cusco. Start the day with a visit to the Choco Museum and enjoy some tasty samples and chocolatey drinks. Afterwards, explore old Cusco and discover the history of this Incan city. Finally wander the food stalls in San Pedro Market. Free Time Cusco Afternoon Spend more time getting to know this fascinating city and surrounding area. Free time is yours to explore any way you want. Day 6 Cusco/Aguas Calientes Travel by van to Ollantaytambo to catch the scenic train to Aguas Calientes. Rise early to catch the first bus up to Machu Picchu with your guide. Enjoy a guided visit to the ruins followed by free time to explore. Opt to walk up to the Sun Gate or Inca Bridge. When ready, head back down by bus to Aguas Calientes to meet up with the rest of the group. Take the scenic train back to Ollantaytambo to meet the van for the ride back to Cusco.
