2 Name: _ CONTINENTS A continent is a big area of land. There are seven continents on Earth: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Australia and Antarctica. In North America there are countries like the USA and Canada and countries from Central America like Costa Rica. In South America there are lots of interesting places like the Amazon rainforest and the Andes mountains. Antarctica is a very cold continent. Nobody lives in Antarctica. It is a very difficult place to live. There is lots of ice and icebergs in Antarctica. Australia is the name of a continent and a country. It is the smallest continent on Earth. Europe is the second smallest continent. There are about 50 different countries in Europe with different languages, customs and traditions. Africa is the second biggest continent on Earth. It is amazing. There is a big variety of landscapes and types of animals in Africa. 2
