1 RESUME Carlos Alberto Cárdenas Mansilla 9 July 1969 Dirección de Programas Antárticos (DPA) Universidad de Magallanes Avda. Bulnes 01855, Casilla- 113-D Punta Arenas, Chile carlos.cardenas@umag.cl Civil electrical engineer from the Universidad de Magallanes, Chile and whose title was obtained with the thesis work "Evaluation of radars, application in Patriot Hills, Antarctica" Next it was incorporated with research assistant in the Antarctic programs of the Universidad de Magallanes, having executed workings of data processing and support in different research campaigns. Soon it obtains a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to make post degree studies in the technical university of Harburg - Hamburg, Germany in the area of radar systems. In October 2006 it received the doctor title whose thesis subject war Hochauflösende Radargeräte zur Untersuchung oberflächennaher Bodenschichten für geophysikalische und glaziologische Anwendungen. Since January 2007 return at Universidad de Magallanes and since November 2010 is Head of the Antarctic Programs Centre from Universidad de Magallanes.
