Santa Fe Destinations is the in-house Destination Management Company of the Eldorado Hotel. We dare you to do it all from walking through the ruins of an ancient Anasazi village to horseback riding through the Cerrillos hills, we promise that this will be a week to remember! To IPDPS Attendees: We have planned several activities for the week of IPDPS which will be of interest to guests accompanying you, and we hope that attendees can take a break from the full schedule of IPDSP events and meetings to participate. 2 Important Information: All activity departure times are definite, unless we call you before your trip to advise you of a change. Please be in the lobby of the Eldorado Hotel 10 minutes before the listed departure time. Your group will be met by Santa Fe Destinations staff in the lobby of the Eldorado and escorted to your departure point. Arrival times back to the hotel are approximate and may vary according to your activity. Duration times include transfer time to and from the activity location. All prices are per person and are subject to a % New Mexico State Tax. Meals are not included unless indicated. Schedule Tuesday, April Golf at Towa Golf Resort New Mexico s newest golf course, which opened in September 2001, is located approximately 15 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza. Two nines are currently open, the Boulder nine designed by Bill Phillips, and the Pinon nine designed by Hale Irwin, with a third to open in June The 7,068-yard, par 72 course showcases championship golf with the serenity of the desert and breathtaking views. Pricing includes green fees, full use of the practice facility, golf cart with GPS satellite yardage, and transportation to and from the course. 3 2. The Secrets of Canyon Road Santa Fe s Canyon Road is one of America s oldest and most charming neighborhoods. Comprised of residences, restaurants, galleries and shops. You re guided stroll along Canyon Road will be cherished for many years to come. You will see some of Santa Fe finest galleries that will include art works of longtime favorites as well as exciting newcomers. Learn the origins of the magnificent artistry of our Pueblos and hear gallery and shop owners discuss their collections. This tour can conclude with lunch on Canyon Road. Pricing includes transportation to and from hotel, guide and gratuities. o Duration: 2 hours o Time: 10:00am-12:00pm o Cost: $50 o Minimum: 6, Maximum 20 Wednesday, April Taos Day Tour with Lunch Take a trip to the charming town of Taos. On the way to Taos see the enchanting San Francisco de Assisi Church in Ranchos de Taos, made famous by many artists including Georgia O Keeffe. Next is Taos Pueblo framed by the sacred Taos Mountains. Taos Pueblo has been designated a World Heritage Site, indicating its world cultural importance. Taos Pueblo is on the National Historic Register, and remains in its pristine, traditional state. Head to Taos Plaza for time to shop and lunch on your own. After lunch journey down the High Road to the rustic Hispanic village of Chimayo, in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Your first stop will be at the charming Santuario de Chimayo, known as the Lourdes of the Southwest, so named because of the professed healing powers contained in the earth in which a crucifix was discovered, and subsequently became the site where the Santuario was built. If time permits, stop at Centinela, where seven generations of the Trujillo family have produced their spectacular Spanish-style weavings. Today s menu is Contemporary Southwest Light, Hearty Vegetable Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette, Lemon Southwest Rice, Fiery Turkey Fillets with Roasted Pineapple Salsa, and Mexican Chocolate Cake. 4 Thursday, April Easy Hike to Tent Rocks Join us for an easy hike to the unique geological area known as Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks. Tent Rocks is an area that features large, tent-shaped rocks that hug the steep cliffs of Peralta Canyon. These rocks were created by the powerful forces of vulcanism and erosion, which have built up and then torn down this landscape. While uniform in shape, the tent rock formations vary in height from a few feet to 90 feet. Most of the trail is on a gradual sloping include through a slot canyon. A steep climb to the top of the mesa is available at the end of the trail for those interested. Please bring layered clothing and good walking shoes. Riders will cover some of the same country you may have seen on the screen in "Silverado", "Lonesome Dove," and "City Slickers." The stables we work with will meet the needs of riders at any skill level. Experienced wranglers will accompany you on the trail. Bandelier Tour Travel northwest out of Santa Fe to Bandelier National Monument and descend into a canyon filled with the ruins of the Anasazi Indians, colloquially "the Ancient Ones." Located on the Pajarito Plateau of the Jemez Mountains, Bandelier was the home of the Anasazi from the eleventh to fourteenth centuries. Excavated over 90 years ago, these ruins were once home to over 200 people, ancestors of today's Pueblo Indians. Walk along easy paths beyond the remains of ancient Pueblo dwellings, to the cliff where you can climb ladders to peer inside. If time permits, take a walk further up the path that leads to the Ceremonial Cave, where the Anasazi and later descendants held spiritual rites and celebrations.
