3 Itinerary Day 1: Arrive Lima, Peru Welcome to the City of Kings. Perched on cliffs by the Pacific Ocean, Lima is one of Latin America s big surprises, boasting culinary delights, a glorious old town, many museums and the impressive 1,800-year-old Huaca Pucllana ruins. Soak up the city s atmosphere, admire neoclassical and Art Deco architecture, sample rich cuisine, and watch street performers. Brazil s Copacabana beach may be world renowned, but it took its name from Lake Titicaca s base town, in homage to the Virgin Mary statue there. Visit the shrine before a cruise to Sun Island. Descend the Inca Steps to taste the water of the sacred fountain, which promises to bring eternal youth and happiness. Soak up lake views over lunch at the Uma Kollu archaeological restaurant, with its picturesque handicraft market. Step inside the mud igloos of the Uru Chipayas in the Andean Roots Igloo Village.
