1 VFR Patterns on airport Left Traffic South Alpha Call Tower: Kona Tower, Helicopter, Requesting Left Traffic South Alpha Upwind - remain East of the KOA VOR climb to 300 MSL or higher Crosswind - remain slightly North of Energy Road keep climbing Downwind - remain West of the Highway maintain 600 MSL call: Kona Tower, Helicopter, Downwind Base - fly parallel to the Airport Road fly slightly south of Delta intersection remain at or above 300 AGL over the hangars/buildings Final - if advised by tower, shoot approach south of Charlie intersection; aircrafts taxing are the reason most of the time don t overfly them

13 Special Areas The red Areas are not to be overflown at any time Kona Tower Fire Pit in the North Practice Area Rental Car Area Housings just East of the Highway Palisades School on the South East side of Energy road The yellow areas are not be overflown below 300 AGL Hangars and other buildings on the airport Building with the Blue Rooftop just north of Energy road Buildings in the south practice area (do not overfly unless necessary for traffic separation) The green Arrow outlines transition areas For a transition from the North of the airport to South of the airport (or reverse) stay: o o o o East of the Highway West of the Palisades Don t overfly houses Altitude min 1500 MSL Other Rules and Practices: Always look out for other traffic Always give right of way to all other aircraft whenever possible
