2 Venice is known as "City of Water" in the sense that its urban fabric is not only crossed by waterways, but it is also completely surrounded by water. The city'ss shape cann be compared to a big fish, characterised by two characteristic and unique transport systems - waterways and routes accessiblee only on foot. In this environment, unique in the world, public transport is guaranteed by a network of waterways which develop in, cross through or circumnavigate Venice to reach the most distant points: the islands in the lagoon. BY PLANE FROM MARCO POLO AIRPORT T Lido can be easily reached for those arrivingg by air. The landing stages are located at the exit off the airport. You can reach them in about 8-9 minutes, walking from the Arrival Terminal through a tunnel equipped with a tapis roulant. Alilaguna Vaporetto Lines Blue or Red Public transport boats Alilaguna Rossa or Bluu (red or blue) These boats operate directly from the airport with a drop off in central points of Venice ncluding Lido. Blue Line travel time: 1 h 05, Red Line L travel time: 0 h 55 Rate for one-way trip 15.00, rate for round trip: 27.00, if you buy your ticket on board add 1.00 to the rates Only one luggage included, extra luggage: 3.00 Blue Line timetables: from 6.00 a. m. to 8.30 a.m. there is a departure every hour and a quarter; from 9.00 a.m. every 30 minutes Red Line timetables: from 9.40 a.m. to 6.40 p.m. every hour and fourty minutes. At the airport, in the arrivals area, one can buy the Alilaguna ticket (for Alilaguna assistance, go to box n. 71 in the arrivals hall). Alilaguna: Bus ATVO + vaporetto (water bus) A bus leaves the airport every half hour. The trip to Piazzale Roma takes t 20 minutes. At the airport, one can purchase the ATVO ticket at the following places: 1) automatic ATVO ticket machine in

3 the arrivals baggage hall; 2) ATVO ticket office in the arrivals hall, box b n. 79 and n. 81 open from 8.00 to 24.00; 3) automatic ticket machines located outside the airport, in the ATVO departure bays. Bus from airport ATVO: From Piazzale Roma to Lido one takes t a vaporetto (water bus) ACTV, either line 5.1, 5.2, or 6 which take about 40 minutes. There is also a slowerr but more beautiful line (line 1) that follows the Grand Canal, which takes an hour or more. ACTV uses an electronic ticketing computerr system called Imob. More M information on this system at the link: In Piazzale Roma, one can purchase the ACTV electronic ticket at the Central Ticket Office, close to the Calatravaa bridge (officially named the Ponte della Costituzione). Vaporetti ACTV: - Moving in Venice Bus ACTV + vaporetto ACTV The airport bus number 5 takes you straight from the airport to Piazzale Roma with a few stops s in between. The ride takes about 30 minutes. At the airport, one can purchase the ACTV ticket at the following places: 1) in the arrivalss hall; 2) at automatic ticket machines located outside the airport, in the ACTV departuree bays. 4 Water Taxis Private water taxis are smaller than waterbuses, they can take up to t 12 people. They are faster, definitely more glamorous, but more expensive. It takes around a half h hour or less to reach Lido. You can use the following companies for transfers to and from Venice Marco Polo Airport. For more details on the rate that will be applied, ask information too the staff inn charge before boarding the vehicle. Warning: The fare includes the transport of only one piece of luggage. Extra luggage can be carried paying an additional fee. Tickets can be purchased on the plane or at the ticket machines inn the baggage claim hall, or at the arrivals area where there is a big sign "Bus to Venice". The bus makes two stops in Mestre and Venice Piazzale Roma. The bus waits for the flights in delay.

Bus from airport ATVO: Vaporetti ACTV: - Moving in Venice BY TRAIN When travelling towards Venice, the first important railway station you y meet iss Venezia-Mestre, which is still on the mainland. The train crosses the Ponte della Libertà bridge and stops at Venezia- for the Santa Lucia, at a few minutes walk from Piazzale Roma, the point of arrival for buses, taxis, new People Mover electric train and for private cars. 6 BY CAR It is easy to reach Venice by car with the following motorway and road connections: A4 from Trieste and from Turin, A27 from Belluno, A13 from Bologna, and thee state roads SS.309 Romea from the Adriatic Coast, SS.14 from Trieste, SS.13 from Treviso, SS.11 from Padua. Venice is always clearly sign posted. Once you have arrived near the lagoon, get on to the Ponte della Libertà - a long straight line with two lanes linking Venice to the mainland -follow the signs for Venice and you will arrive at Piazzale Roma. No cars, scooters or bicycles are allowed in the historical center att all. The lastt place for parking these vehicols is Piazzale Roma. There are few different parking lots with dailyy parking or by the hour. The cheapest is the Tronchetto. Turn right immediately after having crossed the Libertà bridge. If you want to take your car to Lido, there is the car ferry, called the Ferry Boat, that leaves directly fromm the Tronchetto. VENICEE PADOVA MOTORWAYS Drivers arriving from the Brennero, Milano or Bologna and heading to Marghera, Mestre, Venice city or to beaches along the Veneto coastline must take the motorwayy Padova-Mestre-Tangenziale West to Mestre- link up with Marco Polo motorways. Andrea One alternative is the large car park on the Tronchetto island ( from the Tronchettoo Island you reach Venice by bus or by vaporetto (line 2, Actv publicc waterbus). Another possibility is leaving your car in Mestre - parking it in the small car parks before you reach the Ponte della Libertà or in those opposite to the railway station of o Mestre and reach Venice by bus or by train (ten minutes ride). VEHICLE TRANSPORT BY CAR FERRY The motor vehicles carried are classified intoo different categories; for f each, a different fare is applied depending on also the chosen routee (see fares for vehiclee transport by ferry on the ACTV website - Moving in Venice).

7 The fares shown do not include the vehicle'ss driver. You can buy a return ticket, which is doublee that of the single fare.. The return journey section must be used within 10 days from the date when the outward journey was w validated. The return ticket does not entitle you to book a car space. FROM HOTELS IN MESTRE From Mestre Train Station (C3 stop) Bus services/ WATER BUS SERVICE: take the bus line no. 2 with destination Venice and get off at a PIAZZALEE ROMA stop. Reach the WATER BUS SERVICE landing stages located in Piazzale Roma and catch lines no. 6, 5.2 or 5.1 and get off att SANTA MARIA ELISABETTA S. M. E. stop Please note that bus service in Mestre IS INCLUDED in the VENEZIA UNICA U city card. Train/ WATER BUS SERVICE: from Mestre Train Station take t a train with destination to VENEZIA SANTA LUCIA. From here, keeping the station behind you and looking at the landing stages, you have to t catch WATER BUS SERVICE no. 5.1, at the landing stage C, with destination to Piazzale Roma via Lido and get off at SANTA MARIA ELISABETTA S. M. E. stop Please note that the train ticket IS NOT INCLUDED in the VENEZIA UNICA city card. FROM HOTELS IN PUNTA SABBIONI From the hotels in Cavallino-Treporti the closest bus stop is CA DI VALLE. V Take the Bus line no. 23 and stop at PUNTA SABBIONI. The cost of one-way trip is 1,50 and IS NOT INCLUDED in i the VENEZIA UNICA city card. Reach the speedboat pier called PUNTA SABBIONI DX and take the speedboat no. 14 to SAN MARCO to reach Lido and get off at SANTAA MARIA ELISABETTA S.M.E. stop. GETTING AROUND THE LIDO

8 To reach the Palazzo del Casinò from f the water bus stop Santa Maria Elisabetta it is possible to take a bus Line V or CA, destination to COLOMBOO (stop at Fronte Mostra del Cinema). The ride takes about ten minutes. Bus servicee in Lido IS INCLUDED in the VENEZIA UNICA city card.
