2 DAY 1 : LISBON ÓBIDOS 90KM Romantic Portugal Self-drive DAYS / 7 NIGHTS / 7 MEALS Discover Portugal at your own rhythm ITINERARY Welcome to Portugal! Upon arrival pick up your car from Avis by Budget car-hire desk at Lisbon airport. Drive north of Lisbon to the medieval walled town of Óbidos for an overnight in Pousada Castelo de Óbidos, within the old beautiful castle walls. Óbidos is known for its typical white houses, flowered windows and narrow streets paved with beautiful stone. During your stay in Óbidos enjoy the area with its stunning landscape and don t miss the national monuments in nearby Batalha, Alcobaça and the picturesque fishing town of Nazaré. Overnight: Pousada Castelo de Óbidos (1 night) DAY 2 : ÓBIDOS PORTO 245KM Drive towards the North of Óbidos to Porto. Porto is located on the right bank of the Douro River which crosses the Porto wine region and offers the delights of a riverside city. During your 3 night stay in Porto we suggest to enjoy the city and its monuments, the historic center (classified as UNESCO world heritage), visit a Porto wine cellar on the other side of the river or take a cruise on the Douro river. We recommend you take a full day excursion to visit Guimarães, Portugal s birthplace with its medieval castle, the 18th century shrine of Bom Jesus de Braga; Ponte de Lima (beautiful small town) and Viana do Castelo known for its local handicrafts. 3 DAY 5: PORTO COIMBRA 130KM Driving from Porto towards the south to visit Aveiro, Portugal s own little Venice. Then end your day in Coimbra where you can visit the oldest university of Portugal and it s famous Library (please make sure to arrive in advance to book your tour to the library the amount of passengers are limited). Another must see are the roman ruins of Conimbriga, only 16km south from Coimbra. Overnight: Hotel Quinta das Lagrimas in Coimbra (1 night) DAY 6 : COIMBRA ESTORIL 190 KM The following 2 nights you will stay in Lisbon s seaside coast, at the charming Inglaterra Hotel. The hotel is located in Estoril, a village known as the Portuguese French Riviera. During your stay there don t lose the opportunity to visit the romantic Sintra area with its unique palaces. Lisbon is also a must with its monuments, the medieval quarters of Alfama and Mouraria and the typical streets of Bairro Alto and Madragoa. It is worth enjoying one night in this lively area. Drive downtown historic Lisbon where you will stay at the boutique deluxe Pousada de Lisboa for 2 nights. Lisbon is a must to visit with its World Heritage monuments and medieval quarters. We suggest a walk through the narrow streets of the old district of Alfama coming downtown (Baixa) along the most important squares of Lisbon to feel the atmosphere of this old historical town. We also recommend a visit to Belém quarter. Admire the Tower of Belem and Jerónimos Monastery. On one of the evening enjoy a unique experience in a local Fado restaurant in Lisbon (dinner with drinks included). While in Lisbon don t lose the chance of visiting romantic Sintra area with its unique palaces such as the Pena palace. This castle represents 19 th century romanticism and sits on top of Sintra s hill with a beautiful view. On the way back to Lisbon stop by Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe and by its seaside coast, Estoril and Cascais (the Portuguese Riviera). Overnight: Pousada de Lisboa (2 nights) 5

6 DAY 3 : LISBON SAGRES 325 KM Driving South through the Coast, you will get to the Village of Sagres overlooking the deep Atlantic Ocean. Sagres has an important historical and maritime significance. 500 years ago, Prince D. Henrique`s caravels left to discover news countries from there. You will stay 2 nights in Pousada do Infante in Sagres and learn more about Portugal discoveries. While you are staying in Algarve you will visit wine producer and cellar, Quinta dos Vales in Estombar (77 km from Sagres). Your visit will include the tasting of 3 different wines. Between Sagres and Quinta dos Vales winery we recommend these visits: Monchique a SPA town with Roman origins; Silves an extremely old town that was the capital of the Algarve for many centuries; Lagos a town with a well preserved heritage. Overnight: Pousada do Infante in Sagres (2 nights) DAY 5 : SAGRES ÉVORA 300 KM Driving north to the centre of Alentejo region, known for its wide open spaces and its extensive farms you will find Évora. Évora is a museum town retaining much of its medieval and Moorish charm (Unesco World Heritage). The must-see sights are the Giraldo square, the Roman Temple, the 12 th century Cathedral and the São Francisco Church which is one of the most important Gothic Manueline monuments of the region. It also houses the famous Chapel of the Bones. In Reguengos de Monsaraz (44 km) you will have a wine and gastronomy experience visiting the Herdade do Esporão wine cellar and vineyard. Your visit will include the tasting of 2 wines and a degustation lunch in at their restaurant (drinks not included). A perfect occasion to taste the delicious Alentejo cuisine. On your way to Évora visit: Alvito with its 15 th century Manueline castle. Other recommended visits: Monsaraz the fortified town, one of the most typical medieval towns in the Alentejo, totally surrounded by walls. Vila Viçosa with a magnificent ducal Palace, this served as a summer residence for the last kings of Portugal. Estremoz the medieval Estremoz surrounded by 17 th century fortifications. 7 DAY 7 : ÉVORA PALMELA 97 KM Drive to the Blue Coast located on the South bank of the river Tagus towards Palmela to overnight in a medieval castle converted in a Pousada, Pousada of Palmela. Its hilltop setting offers breathtaking panoramic views of the magnificent Natural Park of Arrabida and the river Sado s course as it flows to find the Atlantic. Visit Palmela s historic centre. Start your tour at S. Pedro church with its beautiful Baroque tiles covering the walls and continue to explore the rest of the city. Nearby Setúbal, with its elegant pedestrian streets and gardens could also be an interesting stop. There you could see The Igreja de Jesus which is a remarkable Gothic church with interior columns carved in Arrábida pink stone from the nearby quarry. In Azeitão, you will take your last included visit to a wine cellar. The cellar of José Maria da Fonseca will offer you a tasting of 2 different wines. Overnight: Pousada de Palmela in Palmela (1 night) DAY 8 : PALMELA LISBON AIRPORT 50 KM After breakfasts, get to the airport in time to drop your car rental and catch your return flight to Canada. Baggage & Personal things Not covered. Cost 8,30 per day. Road tolls - Budget by Avis cars have a special device that clients can rent at a daily cost of 1,70 per day in a maximum of 17 per rental. With this device clients can pass all electric tolls and also the nonelectric (on the Via Verde lane). At the end all the tolls will be charged on the clients credit card. Child seat baby (0-12 years) 9,40 per day to a maximum of 94 per rent. Mandatory for every passenger with less than 12 years of age and height lower than 150 cm. GPS Navigator system - 45 per 3 days rental, 60 per 4 to 7 days rental, 73 Euros per 8 days rental or more. 9

10 Additional drivers - there is a local charge of 7,90 per driver per day in a maximum of 63,20. Roadside safety net - 3,60 per day in a maximum of 50,40 rental. This supplement covers: Key Replacement - Get replacement keys or locksmith assistance. Lockout Service - Gain entry when keys are locked inside the vehicle. Jump Start - If your vehicle experiences battery failure, we'll provide a jump start. Flat Tire Assistance & Replacement - We'll replace a flat or damaged tire with the spare, or get the car towed to the nearest service facility. Fuel Delivery - If you run out of gas, we'll deliver 3 gallons to your location Wi-fi system - Clients can buy a wi-fi device when picking up the car at an airport. This system works in all Portugal mainland since there is signal. Has a cost of 7,30 per day (available in the airports only). Fuel deposit NOTE: Above mentioned costs for extras like baby and child seats, additional drivers etc. are excluded of local tax (VAT). Local taxes and costs for extra s are subject to change and therefore cannot be refunded by DOMITUR Other information: NO SHOW fee - Penalty of 40 if the booking is not cancelled up to 3hours before pick up time After pick-up clients are not entitled to any refund if rental will be interrupted by clients wish. Delivery at hotels always on request basis and not available on Saturdays and Sundays at Lisbon and Porto cities Free of charge in Portugal mainland if there is a Budget by Avis station with 10Km away. If stations are more than 10Km away deliver fees will be applied: More than 10Km ,30Euros/per Km per pick up or drop-off Collection at hotels no charge but pick -up time not guaranteed, therefore car return in city station or airport is recommended. Otherwise any damages or car park fines are client s responsibility. In case of accident by car driver s fault taking into consideration Portuguese law, insurance companies decline any or all responsibility for that driver of all damages caused to the hired vehicle or to third parties whenever it is detected that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, drugs or toxic products or by insanity of the driver. Also if the client uses the car in sportive competitions, races, rallies or challenges, contests, bets, etc. Even if the car s driver is not under the influence of any of the above items but by any means also destroys our car by his own fault we shall not refund any amount for the time left to complete the rental and we only give another car through a large deposit that may cover eventual damages that can be caused to the new car. 10
