3 HOTEL LOBBY -Sets the tone for the entire hotel *Key Circulation: Entrance - Front Desk - Elevators* -Needs to balance the visual impact and function -Design focus: Scale - Atmosphere - Image -Create shared space with Bars, Restaurants, Retail Kiosks; this creates a variety in scale and level of activity which fluctuates throughout the day -The organization of the space needs to be obvious to the guest **This is the area of the hotel to see, be seen and to participate**

8 DESIGN SIGNAGE & ICONOGRAPHICS: -Graphics, table top items, uniform design, etc. are all used to reinforce the hotel image -Collaborate on these items whenever possible -Integrate signage with the design through use of color, shape, and pattern & using the same typeface throughout ART & ARTIFACTS -They can be used to create the feeling of home or the element of fantasy -The designer can create an art program for continuity throughout the hotel -Commissioning local artists & reproducing the work can be cost effective -Luxury hotels often collect art and the owner s collection may guide the design style -Staff are often trained to answer common guest questions about the art -Incorporate early in the design process to accommodate structural, lighting, water, security or other elements possibly needed
