2 Greetings Message from the Chairman Dear Friends, Join us at the 2016 EMA Spring Meeting to Rethink, Reinvent and Transform you and your company, while enjoying the hospitality and beaches of the Low Country in South Carolina. This is our first meeting on Hilton Head Island, a place where you can come and think, network with friends and learn a great deal about the future of the industry. We are honored to welcome Barbara Pellow from InfoTrends as our opening keynote presenter. If you read What they Think or any of the graphic arts magazines, you have probably read about Barbara who does a great deal of work in analyzing direct mail and printing trends. She will focus on our industry and share her findings on the future for our industry. There will be two presentations during the Foundation Forum. The first speaker will be Nanci Langley, Postal Regulatory Commission s Vice Chairman. She will share her views on the future of mail and physical commerce. The second presentation will come from Joe Corbett, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of the USPS. Joe has done a great deal of work on the financial transformation of the USPS. He does not come from a bean counters perspective but rather as a manager with a very well respected point of view. Our closing general session will feature a presentation from the current President of The European Envelope Association (FEPE), Ignacio Reiris, CEO of Printeos Group Holding S.L.U., Spain. Ignacio is an expert in business transformation and he will not only talk about the transformation of the envelope industry in Europe, but also of his own company. We will have several excellent general sessions on postal issues including a presentation from Jim Sauber, Chief of Staff of the National Letter Carriers Association, an expert on postal legislation. We will also hear from John Brigman, VP and Founder, Keenan and Suggs, on loss management in our industry and from transportation specialist Pat Thomas, Chairman, American Trucking Association, on the challenges of logistics and distribution in today s Internet driven market. You do not want to miss these dynamic speakers and the wealth of knowledge to be gained. The Westin Hilton Head is an upscale beachfront resort. Before joining InfoTrends, she was the Chief Marketing Officer of Kodak s Graphics Communications Group and prior to that she was the Gannett chair in integrated publisher sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology s School of Printing Management and Sciences. Barbara will discuss Direct Mail: Integral to the Marketing Mix in While some forms of marketing are fleeting and forgotten, a postcard, brochure, or catalog can serve as a lasting reminder of a marketing message. Direct mail can compel recipients to act, attract new customers, increase customer loyalty, boost brand awareness, reactivate dormant accounts, and deliver profitable results. This session explores how businesses of all sizes are rethinking their strategies and incorporating more direct mail in their messaging. 9:45 am 11:15 am General Session II: Foundation Forum Joe Corbett, CFO, United States Postal Service, will talk about the financial and operational performance of the USPS as we move into Joe has been CFO and Executive Vice President since 2009 and has steered the Postal Service through the aftermath of the great recession. Nanci Langley, Vice Chairman, Postal Regulatory Commission, will share some of her views on the future of mail and how it might impact the USPS. Pat will specifically address the shortage of professional truck drivers and how EMA members can work with their shipping partners. John Brigman, Vice President and Founder, Keenan and Suggs, will provide a presentation on risk management and loss prevention. 9:45 am 11:15 am General Session IV: Postal Affairs/Public Policy Jim Sauber, Chief of Staff, National Association of Letter Carriers, will discuss how they see the long-term interests of letter carriers as aligned with those of the broader mailing industry. The presentation will focus on how business and labor can work together to build a Postal Service for the 21st Century. Kurt Ruppel, Marketing Services Manager, IWCO Direct, will discuss the current state of the Exigency pricing, and where the USPS is financially, in addition to the Mailer Scorecard and assessments, and expected pricing changes. Lon Robinson, Director, Research & Development, Tension Corporation, will present a review of the National Postal Forum, an update on USPS Promotions, Service Performance, and informed delivery. 1:15 pm 2:45 pm Closing General Business Session Kenneth J. Bernstein, EMA Chairman, and President & CEO, United Envelope LLC, will provide a brief report of the Association. Maynard H. Benjamin, EMA President & CEO, will provide his president s report. Spouses will have a separate registration fee and children not employed by a member company are not required to pay the registration fee. WHAT TO WEAR The average temperatures in early- April are a high of 73 degrees and low of 52 degrees Fahrenheit. Business casual is the recommended attire for all committee meetings and sessions. Suggested attire for the sessions includes slacks, polo-type shirts or button-down collared shirts for the men. Slacks, skirts, polo-type shirts or blouses are suggested for the women.
