2 3 NIGHTS ITINERARY Day 1 Friday 11 November Arrival at the Athens Airport; met by our local guide. Transfer to your hotel (duration of the transfer approx. 45 minutes). It is an island with a unique landscape since it one of the very few islands in Greece with such lush vegetation. This is the narrow land bridge which connects the Peloponnese peninsula with the mainland of Greece, near the city of Corinth. Drive on and visit the Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then proceed to the town of Nafplion for a short visit. Continue to Mycenae, home of the legendary King Agamemnon and centre of pre-classical Greece where you will visit the Lion Gate, the Royal Tombs and the Cyclopean Walls which still remain one of the mysteries of the ancient world. Depart for Olympia through Central Peloponnese and the town of Tripoli. Dinner and overnight hotel 4 stars, in Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games. (B, D) Day 2 Breakfast and visit the Archaeological Site including the temple of Zeus, the temple dedicated to the goddess Hera, the magistrate residence, the Bouleuterion (Council House), where the athletes took their Olympic oath, the Palaistra, the Atelier of Phidias, the Gymnasium. Then visit the Archaeological Museum of Olympia. Drive on through the plains of Elia and Achaia until the magnificent bridge which is crossing the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and Itea, arrive in Delphi, for many centuries considered to be the centre of the world to the ancient Greeks. According to the legend the father of the Olympic gods Zeus sent two eagles flying, the one to the east and the other to the west. At the point where they met, they let the Holy stone fall to the earth and named it the centre of the world - the Omphalos - the navel of the earth. Dinner and overnight in a 4 star hotel in Delphi. (B, D) Day 3 Breakfast and then visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Delhi. After lunch depart for Kalambaka, a small town stated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic rocks. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (short stop at Leonida s Monument). Arrive in Athens early in the evening.
