It is named after the Tiananmen ("Gate of Heavenly Peace") located to its north, separating it from the Forbidden City. 4 Museum of China, and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. The Forbidden City: A palace complex in central Beijing, China. The former Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty ( ), it now houses the Palace Museum. The Forbidden City served as the residence of the emperors and their households as well as the ceremonial and political center of the Chinese government for almost 500 years. The Summer Palace: A vast ensemble of lakes, gardens, and palaces in Beijing. It was an imperial garden during the Qing Dynasty. Mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, it covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometers (1.1 sq mi), threequarters of which is water. Birds' Nest and Water Cube: These are the new landmarks of Beijing. They are situated opposite each other at the Olympic Park. While the architecture is impressive during the day it looks even better when lit up at night. 5 Badaling: The most visited section of the Great Wall of China is approximately 50 miles northwest of urban Beijing city in Yanqing District, which is within the Beijing municipality. The Temple of Heaven: An imperial com plex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The Emperors of the Ming and Qing dyn asties used to visit the site to pray for a good harvest. SHAANXI HISTORICAL MUSEUM Shaanxi History Museum: Located to the northwest of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda in the ancient city Xi'an, in the Shaanxi province of China. This is one of the first state museums to be built with modern facilities in China. It is also one of the largest. City Wall: A massive wall that divides the city into two - inner part and outer part.

6 There are two main entrances to the inner city through the south and north gate. The Tang Dynasty Show: Also known as "Music & Dance Dinner Show in Xian" is the pride of the city.
