2 Awards & Medals received by Kenneth Gasque - Canarian Excellency of Tourism prize Lanzarote Tourism prize 2009 Kenneth Gasque is born the 1st of November 1950, and he is Danish citizen and been living on Islas Canarias since Before coming to Lanzarote Kenneth Gasque, was Sergeant Major (highest rank) in The Royal Guards, beside of going to guard the Queen Maragrete the II of Denmark on her trips to the different castles in Denmark. Kenneth was teacher in The Military Academy for Physical Education. Kenneth Got the Order of the White Rose of Finland, one of three official orders from Finland Kenneth has worked for Club La Santa since its opening in Kenneth was the first Danish citizen to race at the Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii in 1985, the same year that he organized the first international triathlon on Spanish soil, the Volcano Triathlon, which took place at Club La Santa, where Kenneth was the Sports Director. He s been back to the World Championships in Hawaii three more times to finish the Ironman Hawaii 4 times (1985, 1987, 1989 & 2005).

3 After competing in Kona 1985, Kenneth realized that an Ironman in Lanzarote could be very similar to the Ironman World Championship. Hawaii and Lanzarote are both volcanic islands, both sit in the middle of an ocean and both offer challenging conditions. By 1992 he d managed to get the contract to organize the first Ironman on Lanzarote and, to this day, it remains a truly unique event. The hospitality of the Lanzarote community is one thing, but so much of the atmosphere of the race comes from one source: Kenneth Gasque. Over the years Kenneth became one of the most experienced and charismatic sports event organizer in Spain and has received many awards and recognitions for his great work for the sport, the participants, the tourists and the island of Lanzarote will have 1500 participants from more than 40 nations.
