THE RESULTS AFTER 10 YEARS OF ACTIVITY La Venaria Reale, in the period has performed very well both in terms of total admissions (on average 800,000 per year), and of economic returns (own income regularly above 40% of the annual budget. La Venaria Reale is well known and appreciated at na onal level as an example of innova ve management of the cultural heritage in the pursuit of the goal of self sufficiency through: independent organiza on of exhibi ons, cultural events direct management of commercial ac vi es internal planning and implementa on of communica on strategies direct management of visitor services, overall conserva on and maintenance of the complex It is an innova ve approach and a modus operandi that has succeeded not only in ensuring the sound economic management of the complex, but also in crea ng a specific iden ty for La Venaria. 3

4 LA VENARIA REALE La Venaria Reale is a permanent cultural project that offers a wealth of opportuni es to learn, to feel new emo ons and to make new experiences. It is a contemporary Palace awai ng to be discovered and open to all. It is also a journey through the "Palace of Italy" and its glorious historical, natural and gastronomic heritage that celebrates regality and the pleasure of living. La Venaria Reale is a grandiose estate situated just outside of Turin. It includes the 80,000 squaremeter surface of the monumental Reggia or palace, and 60 hectares of Gardens. The estate opens onto the 17th century historical center of the town of Venaria and borders on the 3,000 hectare Park of La Mandria. It is an architectural and natural masterpiece of universal Baroque that was enlisted as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in It reopened in 2007 when Europe s largest restora on project ever undertaken for the cultural heritage was completed. 4

5 THE RESTORATION PROJECT The Reggia opened to the public on 12 October 2007, a er 8 years of restora on work that followed 2 centuries of abandonment and neglect. The restora on project, promoted by the European Union and curated by Ministry for the Cultural Heritage and the Regional Government, required funding for 200 million euros. It is regarded as the largest project ever undertaken in Europe for the recovery of the cultural heritage. 5

6 CULTURAL PRODUCTION Every day the magnificent Reggia and Gardens of Venaria provide permanent displays, art and history exhibi ons, cultural events, music and live performances, walks in nature, gastronomic delights, entertainment, relax and much more. From 2007 to 2017: 51 exhibi ons organized in the Reggia 3,800 concerts, live performances and cultural events hosted in the Reggia and the Gardens more than 35,000 educa onal programs for schools of all levels 6

8 FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND JOB CREATION The Consor um, in charge of managing the estate, has a permanent staff of 59, plus 2 seconded from other ins tu ons. That figure increases to about 200 when considering also seasonal employees, external collaborators and employees of contractors providing outsourced services. 8

9 The Consor um's annual budget for ac vi es, exhibi ons, services, ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, HR, u li es, promo ons, etc. is generally around 15 million euros. Approximately 33% of the budget comes from the Consor um's Public Members, 21% from private members, and the remaining 46% consists of revenue from the estate's own ac vi es, par cularly proceeds generated by admission ckets, loca on rental, royal es, sponsorships, direct management of cafés and restaurants and the bookshop, etc.. 10 THE RESIDENZE REALI SABAUDE CONSORTIUM La Venaria Reale is managed by the Consorzio delle Residenze Reali Sabaude (previously Consor um for the Cultural Promo on of the estate), made up of the following Members of the Assembly of Associates: Ministry for the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Regione Piemonte Town of Venaria Reale Compagnia di San Paolo Fondazione 1563 per l Arte e la Cultura The Chairman is appointed by the Assembly of Associates and proposed by the President of Regione Piemonte (in agreement with the Ministry). The Director is appointed by the Assembly of Associates and proposed by the Ministry (in agreement with the President of Regione Piemonte). The members of the Board of Directors are appointed by: the Ministry for the Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Regione Piemonte, Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione 1563 per l Arte e la Cultura. The Board of Auditors is appointed by the Assembly of Associates as follows: President: designated by the Ministry two other members: one designated by Regione Piemonte, the other by Compagnia di San Paolo. 10
