11 European Tourism Indicators System Mali Lošinj had become one of the first destination in Croatia that participated in the pilot project entitled European Tourism Indicator System. Lošinj, in addition to the compulsory indicators, has also started to measure noncompulsory indicators, and has included them in the founding document. Accepting it on the Town s Council of the Town of Mali Lošinj, ETIS became the basic document with binding on a comparison in previous years in each indicator.
12 Award of the European Commission for Sustainable Development Bruxelles, April 22nd 2016., Mali Lošinj won the prize of European Tourism Indicators System (ETIS) for sustainability and accessible tourism management, specifically for the width and depth of collected date of the practices of sustainable tourism on the island Ljubljana, Global Green Destinatons day, September 27th 2016., Sustainable Destinations TOP an award for responsible and sustainable development of tourism The Present and the Future of Sustainable and Responsible Tourism, April, Zagreb

14 Future of ETIS within NECSTouR European Tourism Indicators System for sustainable destinations is an European Commission project, which after a successful pilot phase, continues to monitor the development of ETIS However, the development of ETIS and its further direction depends on the destinations and how will ETIS be legitimized ETIS Workshop, Ljubljanja , Global Green Destination Day NECSTouR Network of European Regions for a Sustainable and Competitive Tourism, created in 2008 and brings together regional tourism associations with universities and representatives of sustainable and responsible tourism tourist organizations. Joining NECSTouR as an associate member is the first step to create ETIS Destination Committee and thus to legitimize ETIS and to continue further development and cooperation in the field of sustainable tourism. EDC (ETIS Destination Committe) capitalize the experiences of measuring and monitoring sustainable tourism performances at destination level, using a common methodology and tool, such as ETIS - being able to compare and to do benchmarking among destinations The Present and the Future of Sustainable and Responsible Tourism, April, Zagreb
