2 serbia DOes fruit Food and agriculture, and especially fruit, is a strong part of Serbian tradition and identity. If there is a true heart of the country, it is pulsating on over 6.54 million ha of agricultural land (60% arable), with climate and geography blessing it with diversity of fruit species, including numerous varieties which can be grown in Serbia as well as autochthonous fruit, specific for this region. Historically and economically, Serbia is a food loving, producing and exporting nation. Agro-industry is one of the strongest and most distinctive elements of the country s economy. Serbia has been producing and exporting plums to Central Europe since In 2016, export of Serbian fruits amounted millions of euros. In 2015, Serbia accounted for more than 21% of entire world raspberry production. With around 62,000 tons produced and export revenues amounting to $230 million, Serbia was the largest exporter of raspberries in 2016 globally. In 2017, total production area under fruit in Serbia was 175,924 ha, while the total fruit production volume was 1,174,671 t. Serbia is among the largest apple producers in South East Europe, and still growing. The apple production area in Serbia is 25,134 ha, with modern intensive orchard with yields reaching t/ha and maintaining high percentage of first-class apples. The volume reaches almost 400,000 tons with varieties following global trends: Gala, Breaburn, Golden and Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Jonagold, Idared and a number of club apple varieties, like Crimson Snow. The volume has almost doubled over the past decade, with many new and intensive orchards on 2,500 ha yet to reach full yield potential. In addition to favourable climate and early harvest window, this growth is due to the modernized production technology, orchards with contemporary irrigation, fertigation, anti-hail and anti-frost systems, ultra-low oxygen systems for extended storage, calibrators...serbian producers have also implemented all required quality standards, such as GLOBALG.A.P., HACCP and IFS, with BRC quality standard starting with implementation. Serbia is a country of fruit. Other than apples, it produces 8% of the world s raspberry and blackberry production. We have more than 200 hectares of our own modern orchards (primarily apples) and over 500 hectares with associates. Our coolhouse is equipped with storage capacity of tons, advanced dynamic ULO system and modern grading and calibrating machines, along with our own production of wooden and carton boxes for packaging. We are also engaged in the purchase and sale of the same. Our assortment consists of: Gala, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Idared, Red Jonaprince etc. Our company has a modern ULO cold storage with DCA technology. We also have a 2-year-old, 2,5 ha large blueberry orchard with Spartan and Aurora varieties. For both fruit types, we offer various packaging solutions, depending on the client s needs. We are accredited with the Global GAP, IFS, HASSAP, ISO 9001 standards. The entire orchard of 240 ha is covered with the most modern anti-frost and irrigation systems. The Green Energy Group owns 50 ha of plantations. Beside our own apples, we operate with additional 50 ha of apple production from our associates. Annual volume of apples is 2,500 t from our own production plus 7,500 t from our associates. The company owns ULO and DCA cooler storage with modern equipment for calibration and packaging with capacity of 12 t/h. We implemented Global G.A.P. and HACCP quality standards and we started implementation of BRS standard. Green Energy Group is export oriented. Our arable land is 230 ha, peaches and nectarines cover 50 ha, the grapevine spreads over 35 ha of the Golden Hill and we grow cherries, too. By using the best growth measures and applying careful selection, we send the tastiest fruit into the world. Located on the slopes of Fruska Gora in Vojvodina region, Verda Vivo, in cooperation with Agrounija doo, has 120 ha of apple production. These two companies have cold storage, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, such as electronic sorting line and ULO/DCA technology for long-term storing of apples. This cold storage has Global Gap and HACCP standards and in 2018 the implementation of BRC and IFS standards will be completed.
