Day 1 Riga / Wednesday Transfer to the hotel, luggage drop-off Free time for lunch ½ day Riga city tour walking (4h with Art Nouveau, entrance to Dome Cathedral) Sightseeing Tour begins with driving along the central boulevards of Riga, enjoying the view of the City Canal parks, the Bastion Hill, the Powder Tower, the Latvian National Theatre, the Fine Arts Museum, the Art Nouveau buildings of the beginning of the century, the Freedom Monument, University of Latvia, the Opera House, the Daugava River with its bridges and Passenger Terminal. During the walking part of the tour you will enjoy the beauty of the ancient hanseatic city, while strolling through the cobble-stone, picturesque streets of the Old Town. In Old Riga you will see the Dome Cathedral, the Church of St. Peter, the old Guild Houses, the Swedish Gate, the architectural ensemble Three Brothers, St. Jacob s Church, the Parliament House, Old Riga Castle, and view the many wonderfully restored buildings, now housing cosy restaurants, cafes, bars and souvenir shops. Start this day with visit to Albert street. You will see why Riga came to be known as one of Europe's leading exponents of the late 19th and early 20th century architectural style of Art Nouveau. 2 Day 2 Riga / Thursday Tour to Rundale Palace tour to Rundale Palace (duration 6 hours) Rundale Palace, the most magnificent masterpiece of baroque architecture in the Baltic States, lies at a distance of 70 km from Riga. It was built in the first part of the 18th century by the Italian architect F. B. Rastrelli, the baroque genius from Italy who created many of St. Petersburg s finest buildings including the Winter Palace. The professionally renovated palace interiors are decorated with authentic 18th cent. furniture, paintings and china. The most impressive are the Golden Hall, the White Hall, and the bedroom of the Duke of Courland Johan Ernst Biron. The palace boasts a beautiful French-style park. Overnight in Riga Day 3 Riga - Tartu / Friday 09:00 Departure to Tartu Excursion to Estonian National museum (duration 2 hours), Tartu city tour (duration 2 hours) Tartu is the second largest city of Estonia. It is situated in Southern Estonia, 186 km from the capital city Tallinn, on the banks of the river Emajõgi, which connects the two largest lakes of Estonia, flows for the length of 10 kilometres within the city limits and adds colour to the city. The centre of Tartu gets its distinctive character from buildings rarely more than two centuries old. The neo-classicist style of the buildings is one of the reasons for Tartu s reputation as Athens on the Emajõgi. Tartu University was founded in 1632 by King Gustav II Adolph of Sweden. Today, the University has ten faculties and offers a wide range of courses at the Bachelor s, Master s and Doctoral levels. During the walking tour we get acquainted with Tartu University building, an old lock-up room and Museum of Classical Arts and Antiquities, Tähetorni Observatory and Jaani Church, Old Town and Toome Hill-ruins of the old Dome Church. Submarine Lembit was hauled out of the water to become the centre piece of the new maritime museum. She is the world's only surviving mine-laying submarine of its series dating back to 1930's. One of the most enthralling exhibits at the Seaplane Harbour is the full-size replica of the British seaplane Short 184. The seaplane conducted the first successful aerial torpedo attack in history. Start the walking tour around the island. Suomenlinna was built during the Swedish era as a maritime fortress and a base for the Archipelago Fleet. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Finland s most popular tourist attractions. Built on a cluster of rocky skerries, the fortress consists of an irregular network of bastions. The majority of buildings date from the late 18th century, the end of the Swedish era. Visit Suomenlinna museum Visitors can immerse themselves in the historical events surrounding the fortress and the lives of people who lived and worked on Suomenlinna via touch-screen operated picture books. The exhibition features one of the oldest surviving Finnish boats, a 6.5 metrelong boat made in the mid-18th century. In addition, every half an hour, the museum screens a short film, The Suomenlinna Experience, which takes the viewer on a journey through the fascinating history of the fortress. Free time for lunch

Porvoo was granted town status in the 14th century and is one of the treasures in the history of Finnish architecture. The symbols of Porvoo the red warehouses on the riverbanks tell the story of seafaring and trading. There will be some free time for a cup of coffee and for a walk in the old town with delightful shops and craftsmen's workshops.
