3 CN 040 Guide to Stanley D. Toussaint Notes and Recordings Page 3 of 14 Biographical Sketch: Stanley D. Toussaint was born April 23, 1928 in Prinsburg, Minnesota. He trusted Christ as his Savior at the age of nine. Toussaint earned his B. S. from Augsburg College in Minneapolis and two degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS): a Th.M. in 1955 and a Th.D. in Stanley Toussaint married Maxine on June 30, 1950 and they had two sons. He taught at Northwestern College in Minneapolis from , then joined the faculty at DTS. While teaching he also served as pastor at Irving Bible Church from and again from Toussaint left DTS to serve as president of Western Bible Institute in Denver from He decided he preferred preaching and teaching to administrative duties. After pastoring Immanuel Baptist Church in Virginia from , he returned to DTS. He ministered as teaching pastor at Richland Bible Fellowship in Richardson, Texas from Toussaint served as chairman of the DTS Bible Exposition Department from In later years he taught a popular Bible class at Stonebriar Community Church. He wrote the book Behold the King: The Good News According to Matthew, several articles in periodicals, and edited or contributed to many books. Stanley D. One of the boxes Dr. Toussaint used for his notes. A digital copy of one photograph of Dr. Toussaint is in the Library shared folder, filed as Archives, Toussaint-CN_040-Photos. Scope and Content Note: This collection in 70 folders, housed in 9 half size boxes primarily contains handwritten and typed notes prepared by Dr. Toussaint for sermons, teaching, and study purposes. Most notes are outlines, but have enough information to identify the key points of the passage or topic. The collection consists of one box of notes regarding the Old Testament, over six boxes concerning the New Testament, and almost two boxes of notes organized by topics. Notations of church or conference names and dates on the back of many pages indicate the length of his ministry and the numerous locations where Toussaint taught and preached. The journal articles included may have supplied sermon illustrations. The notes offer examples of Dr. Toussaint s messages and his sense of humor. The only correspondence included are two letters Toussaint wrapped around a set of notes to keep them together. The CDs provide audio recordings of two of Dr. Toussaint s messages. Note to the Researcher: Most pages are 5 ½ W x 8 ½ H. Some pages have holes to fit a small ring binder. Some notes are written on the backs of other documents. Processing Information:. The notes are primarily in the order in which they were received. This sometimes resulted in notes on the Books of the Bible being out of order.

The notes from one of Dr. Toussaint s boxes were sometimes divided between a few folders, but the title of the original box is noted in this guide. Separated Material: One Revised Standard Version New Testament published by Thomas Nelson & Sons, c was cataloged in Archives Books. The flyleaf has the notation S. D. Toussaint and some pages have marginalia in blue ink. The book is shelved as Archives Books BS2091.A N4. A small print of the photograph of Stanley D.
