2 Introduction This Camporee is an opportunity for Boy Scout Patrols to learn more about geocaching, waypoints, and GPS units through hands on experience while working towards earning the Geocaching Merit Badge. This event is meant to be a fun but also learning experience. As with all Scouting events and activities, the Scout Law, the Scout Oath, and the Outdoor Code will be the guidelines for behavior throughout the Camporee. All BSA rules and policies are to be followed at all times during the Camporee. The Camporee is intended to be For the Boys By the Boys with adults supervising and assisting only when absolutely necessary. The Camporee events are designed to have adult volunteers running each event. Patrols are encouraged to have their adult leaders volunteer to assist with an event. Patrols will receive a bonus for having an adult volunteer to assist with an event. If you are interested in assisting with an event or have any questions or concerns after reading this booklet, please contact the Camporee Committee listed below. Camporee Chairman- Chris Thornton , techris32@gmail.com Camporee Co-Chairman- Ken Davidson , cgflmech92@yahoo.com Senior District Executive- Cary Wilson , cary.wilson@scouting.org

Each mini event will be timed. In order to receive credit for completing the merit badge requirements, every scout in the patrol must participate at every station. If a scout participates fully and completes every mini station they will have completed requirements 1 thru 8 for the Geocaching Merit Badge. Every scout will need a compass to use at some of the stations. If a scout has a cell phone it is recommended that they have the Geocaching.com app downloaded on it and have already registered for a free account. It is also recommended that they download and practice using Polaris Navigation GPS app. This app will be used for the requirements pertaining to waypoints. Main Event (Draft-Subject to Change) For the main event scouts will complete requirement 9 of the Geocaching Merit Badge. Scout Patrols will be assigned an area to set up their geohunt at 3pm.
