1 Welcome to Summer Fun Day Camp Orientation! Thank you for coming! The Director, Assistant Director, Coordinator, and Counselors will be present from 5:30-6:30pm While you are here: Complete the required camp paperwork per child (copies available on the round tables) Drop off completed paperwork Pick up your camp T-shirt (1 free per child registered) Enjoy some snacks and meet the staff! 3 Daily Sign-In/Sign-Out & Camp phone (224) Save the camp phone number to your cell phone. You will need to call for Late Drop-Offs or Early Pick-Ups (see definitions below) Parents/Guardians must sign-in and sign-out each camper every day and show a valid photo ID Daily activities begin at 9:00am and end at 4:00pm Late drop of is anytime after 9:00am Early pick-up is anytime before 4:00pm Parents will be responsible for calling the camp phone to alert the Director or Assistant Director of a late drop off or early pick up. Late Drop Off: The parent/guardian and child(ren) will need to call the camp phone and wait in the Krasa Presentation Room for their child(ren) to be signed in and picked up by a counselor Early Pick-Up: The parent/guardian will need to call the camp phone and wait in the Krasa Presentation Room for their child(ren) to be walked over by a counselor from their current activity on campus and signed out by the parent/guardian 5/25/2016 3

6 What should campers bring each day? Backpack labeled with campers first and last name Full water bottle labeled with campers first and last name *Nut-free afternoon snack inside a baggie (see further details next slide) Sunscreen labeled with the campers first and last name Swimsuit & towel (Water Activities on Tuesdays) Full change of clothes (shirt, shorts, underwear, socks) A non-electronic activity for open recreation time (toy, book, ball) Do not bring: small items (playing cards, bouncy balls) or electronic devices (cameras, ipods, video game players) 5/25/2016 6

7 What is considered a nut-free snack? A nut-free snack does not contain any type of tree nut or peanut A nut-free snack means the snack was made in a nut-free facility Your child will not be allowed to open/eat their snack if the snack contains nuts, may contain nuts, or is made in a factory that also produces nut products. We will strictly enforce this policy, as we have campers with severe nut allergies who can have a reaction even to inhaling airborne particles from nut products Check the label of the snack carefully before bringing it to camp! 5/25/2016 7

11 Camper Disciplinary Actions Step One: Child is given a verbal warning and instructed to correct his/her behavior. Step Two: Child is given a five minute time-out by removing them from their current activity and having them sit calmly and quietly until retrieved by their counselor. Camper is involved in the discipline. What would an appropriate consequence be? How do we fix this? How do we prevent this from happening again? Step Three: Counselors will fill out an incident report and contact the Assistant Director or Director immediately. The child will be required to talk to the director/assistant about the situation and the parents/guardian will be called or told at pick-up. Parents are expected to discuss the inappropriate behavior with their child and to work with the Day Camp staff to stop the misbehaviors. Parents will also sign the incident report. A total of 3 (three) behavioral incident reports is grounds for dismissal from camp for the remainder of the summer. As a reminder to parents, no refunds are given if a child is dismissed from camp for behavioral misconduct. 5/25/
