4 ART & EDUCATION CAMPS Explore a variety of art and education opportunities this summer. Each camp will have a specific focus and may also include games and snacks. All supplies are included in the camp cost. All camps are held at the Appleton YMCA. Half Day: 9:00 AM-Noon OR 1:00-4:00 PM Cost: Y Member $64 General Public $79 Full Day: 9:00 AM-4:00 PM Cost: Y Member $94 General Public $109 These weeks will have camps for your child in the morning and in the afternoon. June Digital Photography Camp 9:00-NOON Grades 1-5 Travel throughout downtown Appleton and learn the skills of good photo taking and creativity with the camera. Must have own digital camera to attend camp. Room Decor Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 1-5 Utilize your creativity to make one of a kind items for your bedroom like pillowcases, dream catchers, wall art and more. June Cooking Camp 9:00-NOON Grades 1-5 Love to cook? Well come in from the summer sun and learn how to cook a variety of food items. Kitchen safety will also be emphasized. Art Explosion Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 1-5 Let the colorful world of art explode around you with the exploration of various art mediums such as paint, clay, pastels and more. June Creative Performance Camp 9:00-NOON Grades 1-5 Explore the theatre and dance through improv games, activities and more. Compare and contrast modern Disney versions with classic fairytales through arts and crafts, games, laughter and more. Science Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 1-5 Enjoy the wonders of the scientific world thru messy and fun experiments. July Nature Exploration Camp 9:00-NOON Grades 1-5 Explore the natural world around us through art, excavation and stories. Themes may include dinosaurs, fossils, flowers, animals, weather and more. Scrapbooking Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 1-5 Create your own picture book while exploring page layouts, creativity and design. Please bring in any of your own pictures you may want to utilize for your scrapbook. July Holidays in July Camp 9:00-NOON Grades 1-5 Enjoy the wonders of the holidays during the warm month of July. We will explore food, crafts, games and more. Holidays explored may include Christmas, Halloween, Independence Day, Valentine s Day and more. Lego Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 1-5 Boys and girls will build a wide variety of individual creations and utilize Legos to make other artistic projects. Animal Adventures Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 1-5 Learn about a variety of animals including their habitats, food and more through crafts, stories and games. August 7-11 Earth and Space Camp 9:00-NOON Grades 1-5 Learn about constellations, the solar system, spaceships and more. Then create a variety of projects reflecting what you have learned. Sculpture Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 1-5 Create 3-D objects thru a variety of techniques. Items utilized may include air-dry clay, paper mache, wood, wire and more. Art Around the World Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 1-5 Travel around the world exploring various culture through art, music games and stories. August 28-Sept 1 Passport to the City Camp 9:00-NOON Grades 1st-3rd Passport to the City Camp 1:00-4:00 PM Grades 4th-6th Join us for a week of fun as we explore downtown Appleton through fieldtrips, artistic activities and active games. It is located in Lakewood, WI on Waubee Lake (about 90 miles north of the Fox Cities transportation is available) and serves children/youth ages 6-16 and families. Spend a week meeting new friends, trying new things and having FUN! Activities include archery, arts and crafts, swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, adventure course activities, canoe trips, fishing, nature studies, rowing, hiking, riflery, campfires, paddle boats, funyaks and disc golf. They also have the opportunity to try our archery range (must be 7 years old to participate in archery), sports field and playground areas along with an outdoor amphitheater for skits and plays. Camp Shioc is a fully enclosed campus, which also includes a complete infrastructure of eating facilities and lavatories. *Pick-up and drop-off locations include: Downtown Appleton YMCA Ferber School, Appleton Sunrise School, Kimberly *The bus leaves at approximately 8:15 AM and returns at 4:00 PM.
