It is a powerful experience that can strengthen the values that parents are teaching daily to their children. YMCA summer day camps provide unique, quality adventures each day that will fill your child s summer with action and adventure. The Oswego Family YMCA wants to be your camp of choice! REGISTRATION DATES & FEES Registration: Begins Wed, February 1, 2018 for Members March 1, 2018 for Non-members Full-Day Camps include: Extended Care. Camp runs from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., but extended care is available for no additional fee. It starts as early as 6 a.m. and ends as late as 6 p.m. Extended care is less structured than regular camp hours, but campers will be well-supervised and engaged in a variety of activities. Weekly field trip or in-house entertainment. T-shirt is provided to all full-day campers. Campers will receive one t-shirt for the summer to be worn on field trips or as designated (additional shirts available for purchase at $5 each). Extended Care Available Before and after hours to accommodate working parents. Field Trips Unique opportunities to explore nature and experience new places. 20 Locations in Chicagoland Close to where you live and work. Inclusion The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago invites persons with disabilities to enjoy Y programs and facilities. Please refer to specific camp listings later in the guide for a description of activities, session dates and fees. We ll also address any questions or concerns you might have about sending your child to camp. Choose one (or more!) of the following dates: Saturday, March 3, 2018, 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2018, 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Healthy Kids Day PARENT ORIENTATION Saturday, May 12, 2018, 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, 6-7:30 p.m. This is your opportunity to meet Summer Camp Program Directors and staff, who will be interacting with your camper all summer. We will review the parent handbook, go over camp policies and procedures, and answer any questions you might have. REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT All campers must be registered and paid in full by the Wednesday prior to their week of camp. A $25 non-refundable deposit is required for each week of camp. (Specialty camp fees are due in full at the time of registration and deposits.) All campers must hold a valid youth or family YMCA membership to receive the member rate, and it must remain valid through September 1, If the membership is terminated prior to September 1, 2018, the non-member rate is due on all camps attended. The final day to register for a particular week is the Wednesday before attending camp. All payments are due by this date. Camps that are cancelled by the registrant will be issued credit vouchers or refund, minus the deposit/registration fee if cancelled at least one week prior to the start of the camp registered for. Credit vouchers may be redeemed for future YMCA services or can be used for a reduction of initial membership payments for community participants within one year of the date of issue. The YMCA reserves the right to cancel a camp when it does not meet minimum enrollment requirements. (We will attempt to notify everyone affected in advance and will help find another camp option that meets your needs.) There are no credits or refunds for missed days. Late registrations received within 4 days of a camp session (Thu-Mon) will pay a $10 program fee. All paperwork, medical forms and waivers are due the Wednesday before your child can attend. Your child will not be permitted into camp without receipt of these documents. If you register online, you will need to download the forms from oswegofamilyymca.org. All camp paperwork must be turned in at the Oswego Family YMCA Member Service desk by May Summer Day Camp View and register for our programs at oswegofamilyymca.org/camp.

5 WHAT TO BRING Swimsuit and towel (only on swim days) Backpack to carry your belongings Lunch and drink in an unbreakable container 2 healthy snacks Labeled water bottle Sunscreen Hat or visor Closed-toe shoes Flip-flops are only permitted at water parks TRAINED STAFF Professionally trained and enthusiastic staff are the key ingredient to a positive camping experience at the Oswego Family YMCA. Each counselor is selected based on their skills, maturity, creativity and sensitivity to the needs of all our camp participants. All of our counselors participate in a minimum of 40 hours of training prior to their first camper s arrival, so you can rest assured your child s counselor will be a caring and positive role model. Staff are certified in CPR, AED and First Aid! ACA CAMP RATIOS Camper Age Staff-to-Camper Ratio 1 to 6 1 to 8 1 to 10 FINANCIAL AID The YMCA accepts Child Care Assistance (CCAP) funds. Child Care Assistance (CCAP) is a child care financial assistance program provided by the Illinois Department of Human Service for working families. The application and approval process can take up to 45 days for new applicants. Families must provide household income to qualify. We must have an approval letter before the first week of camp. After you are accepted into the program, you are responsible for paying the parent assigned monthly co-pay each month IN ADDITION to the differential. The differential is the daily cost of our program minus the daily rate paid by (CCAP). If you qualify, your assistance can be applied to all of your weeks of camp. If you do not qualify, you will receive a denial letter. Submit the denial letter to us and then you can apply for Financial Assistance through the YMCA. YMCA assistance is available for those who need help to pay for camp. Assistance is based on annual income and family size. Funds are limited and available on a first-come, first-served timeline. To apply for Financial Assistance, complete a Financial Assistance Application, provide a copy of your Federal 1040 and a letter explaining your financial situation and return them to the YMCA. 8 YOUTH SPECIALTY CAMPS These part-time camps are geared toward school aged children. Each camp is designed to foster and encourage a child s specific sport or creative interest. The goals of the camps are: To work with children of all ability levels To build self-esteem, teach values and fair play To teach basic skills, rules and games To promote involvement and lifetime participation To build teamwork and have fun! 9 SPORTS CAMP If your child is interested in learning the fundamentals of baseball, basketball, floor hockey or flag football, our sports camp will introduce the camper to the basics of each sport. CREATIVE ARTS CAMP It s not just paint and crayons! In the Creative Arts Camp, children are allowed to express their creative side through musical, theatrical and visual arts! Daily activities explore whatever your camper is most interested in. Some of the activities include applied arts, acting/singing, monologues and more! 10 LEADERS IN TRAINING (LIT) Love Camp? Interested in becoming a Y Camp Counselor some day? Then LIT is for you! Leaders In Training is a program for teens in grades The LIT program is best for teens who have been a YMCA camper for at least one summer. Leaders In Training is an interactive learning environment that provides an insider view into how camp runs and the responsibilities of the counselors who run it. LITs will be instructed on much of the same material covered in our counselor staff trainings, and will be mentored by a Unit Leader in camp, helping them with programming, lessons and day-to-day activities. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, build self-esteem and prepare for a future opportunity as a day camp counselor. Candidates interested in joining our LIT program must submit an application with references and go through an interview with the Youth and Family Program Director and Coordinator.
