Children spend time indoors and outdoors as experienced staff lead campers in a wide variety of activities each day, including creative art experiences, games, skits and songs, sports, recreational swimming and weekly off-site field trips. IPY follows an education based curriculum throughout all 11 weeks of programming with a focus on skill development, reading and creative learning. FEES, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS All camps require a $25 deposit and should be placed as soon as you decide you need care. The remaining balance is due by the Wednesday prior to camp. For all camps, this deposit is credited toward your total camp fee(s). Your child will not be admitted into camp if fees are not paid in full. By June 1, 2018, you may cancel the session(s) or week(s) and receive a refund of the total paid amount for that session(s) or week(s), minus the non-refundable, non-transferable deposit. In addition, if your child is hospitalized or ill for an entire camp week, you may receive a refund for days missed, minus the nonrefundable, nontransferable deposit, with a doctor s note. If you fail to meet the cancellation deadline, you will be responsible for payment in full, regardless of attendance. SAVE MONEY ON DAY CAMP! Join the YMCA with a youth pass or family membership. 4 DEPOSITS A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $25 per week per child is required at the time of registration. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Due to our limited YMCA scholarship money, we require all families in need of financial assistance to first request assistance from Action for Children at You can pick up signed Action for Children applications at the Irving Park Member Service Desk. Families are responsible for submitting their own applications to Action for Children and providing a receipt of submission and a copy of the application to the Irving Park YMCA s Youth and Family Director. It is highly recommended that families seeking financial aid request a meeting with the Youth and Family director as soon as possible. All certificates of approval must be submitted by May 1 to ensure that you will be eligible prior to the beginning of camp. Please note: Action for Children does not cover all fees due. You will be responsible for all fees not covered by Action for Children. Parents must also complete a scholarship application and if you are denied we will work with you to get assistance. Financial assistance from the YMCA is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Upon filling out the YMCA scholarship packet, you need to return the completed forms to the Irving Park YMCA. 7 JUNIOR DISCOVERY CAMP Do you want your 8-year-old to have a summer they ll never forget? Jump into Junior Discovery Camp. This year, Junior Discovery is exclusively for 8-year-olds! Your camper will have the opportunity to participate in an array of organized educational and recreational activities, all of which will promote social skills, self-confidence, sportsmanship, character development and healthy kids. Daily activities include swimming, creative art experiences, sports, singing, cookouts and group games. Each week of camp includes a field trip, too! Want to hang out with friends all day and go on fun, exciting trips? Look no further! Teen Camp will take you and your friends on an interesting, new adventure every day! Teen Camp is a great way to meet new friends, explore your interests and discover new skills that can open new opportunities. This camp focuses on leadership, team building, character development and creating positive self-esteem. Teens will participate in structured activities relating to recreation and sports, life skills, communication, career exploration and community involvement. Other than weekly field trips, your teen will also participate in community service projects and work toward accomplishing hours for their high school requirement. 8 DISNEY II EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT CAMP* Does your child attend Disney II Magnet School? If so, this is a great opportunity for you! This educational camp is held on-site at the school. Campers will do science projects, write stories and work on completing their summer packet. Campers will also swim twice a week at the Y, play sports and go on a weekly field trip. This is a great program for the well rounded Disney II student! Drop off will take place at Disney II and pick up will take place at Disney II between 4 and 4:30 p.m. After 4:30 p.m. children will be walked back to the YMCA for extended care pick-up (included in the price). Please attend parent orientation for more details. *If there is space available children from other schools can attend camp with permission from YMCA director and the school s principal. SPECIALTY CAMPS Do you want to give your child something exciting to do? Are they interested in science, sports or architecture? We have a specialty camp for every interest. Specialty camps now run 5 days a week and attend the weekly all camp field trip check each description for more information! BASKETBALL LEVEL 1 CAMP Be a part of a team and learn skills to develop your game. This camp is a great way to jump-start basketball skills. 8-9 July 9-13 M-F* 9AM-4PM *Basketball Level 1 campers will go on the all-camp field trip on Thursday! SOCCER LEVEL 1 CAMP Campers will sharpen their soccer skills with drills and scrimmages. 9 DANCE Campers will learn the basics of different styles of dance and get to do some choreographing of their own. They will work towards a routine at the end-of-week performance for the other camps! 6-11 July M-F 9AM-4PM SPORTS OF ALL SORTS CAMP Have your camper spend the week learning and playing a variety of sports including football, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey and more. The fun won t stop there, as we will also dive head first into the importance of nutrition and how to live a healthy lifestyle! We will track progress daily in this non-contact football fundamentals camp July 30-Aug 3 M-F* 9AM-4PM JR LIFEGUARDING CAMP This camp is designed to prepare younger children to take the lifeguard class when they turn 15. It also introduces basic lifesaving skills. You will become first aid and CPR/AED certified (good for two years). Class includes a certificate upon completion. Camper must be able to swim 25 yards and tread water for 1 minute July M-F 9AM-4PM WEIRD SCIENCE CAMP Is your child interested in gizmos and gadgets? Chemical reactions? Forming hypotheses? This is the camp for them! Your camper will spend the week creating experiments and learning all about mad science! 8-10 July M-F* 9AM-4PM *Weird Science campers will go on the all-camp field trip on Thursday! WINDY CITY TRAVEL CAMP This camp is all about Chicago. Campers will spend the week exploring the city and soaking in everything it has to offer. We ll even make a special trip to the Willis (Sears) Tower! Get to know your hometown by attending this one-ofa-kind camp! Any days you need! Please note there is a 3-day minimum. You must notify the front desk before deposits are made and choose the days for attendance at time of registration. BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL (Ages 5-14) The Irving Park YMCA Before & After School Enrichment Program is for children who need a safe and nurturing environment to learn, play and make friends before and after school. The program focuses on educational enrichment through physical fitness, swimming, arts, homework assistance and character development. Our educated staff members exceed standards required by DCFS in the state of Illinois and are trained in YMCA Child Care, Child Abuse Prevention, American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. BEFORE SCHOOL PROGRAM Get your child s day off to the right start! The program begins at 7 a.m. and we will safely take your child to school!
