56 Fusion ENT Navigation System Fusion ENT Navigation System The Fusion system is a surgical guidance platform that supports use of special application software and associated instruments. The system reformats patient-specific CT or MR images acquired before surgery and displays them on-screen from a variety of perspectives (axial, sagittal, coronal, oblique). The surgeon may use the system to create, store, and simulate progression along one or more surgical trajectories as well as create and manipulate one or more 3D models of the anatomy. During surgery, the system tracks the position of specialized surgical probes in or on the patient anatomy and continuously updates the probe position on these images. If desired, the application can also show how the actual position and path during surgery relate to the pre-surgical plan, and can help guide the surgeon along the planned trajectory. 81 Snoring and Sleep Apnea Therapies Pillar Procedure The Pillar Procedure Soft Palate Implant System The System is intended for use in stiffening the soft palate tissue, which may reduce the severity of snoring in some individuals, and for the reduction of the incidence of airway obstructions in patients suffering from mild to moderate OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). Indications for use of the System include: symptomatic, habitual, social snoring due to palatal flutter or upper airway obstruction caused by the soft palate. DEVICE DESCRIPTION The Pillar System ( System ) is packaged in a box of 6 implant systems, each sterile and disposable. Each implant system consists of a delivery tool with a preloaded implant. The implant is a braided segment of polyester filaments intended for permanent implantation. The implant is approximately 18mm in length and has an approximate outer diameter of 2 mm.
