1 CAMP IRONWOOD 2018 (rising 1 st -5 th ) The Wacky Adventures of Professor I.Can.Travel.Alot Get ready to travel through various eras in Y Day Camp. A fun, energetic, program for rising 1 st -5 th graders, Professor I.Can.Travel.Alot will lead your camper through medieval times, journey on the wagon train, practice their pirate skills, launch into space, and play their role in a western, all while learning who they are and how far they can go in their own lives. Every day holds endless possibilities as they build new friendships, explore the great outdoors, get active, create crafts, act in skits, and learn songs. Each week, campers have a field trip plus go swimming two days. Two snacks and a sack lunch are offered each day (lunch not provided Weeks 9 & 10). The Y has 1 counselor for every 12 kids. *Spaces will be limited. HYPE CAMP 2018 (rising 6 th -8 th ) Game On The Y offers a HYPE Teen Summer experience to make your middle schooler s summer memorable in so many ways. From new friends to new challenges, HYPE will strive to stretch their expectations of fun and the way they think about the world. Our goal is to keep your tweens and teens active this summer by involving them in weekly service learning, and leadership experiences. We will also emphasize a healthy lifestyle through traditional games, sports, and activities. Your teen will be in a safe atmosphere with highly trained, fun and energetic staff. HYPE Teen Camp is for rising 6th through 8th graders. HYPE Campers get to swim one day a week, go on a weekly field trip, participate in a weekly service learning project, and have breakfast, lunch, and one snack each day. The YMCA s themed Specialty Camps are terrific opportunities for campers to explore their creativity and pursue their passions through science, art, sports, games, performing arts and more! It s a perfect way to add variety to your camper s summer experience as they learn and grow. Having a blast while learning, with a focused theme - that s YMCA Specialty Camps! Lunch and a snack will be provided daily. (See reverse side for Specialty descriptions.) The Professor is in the Building: Tuesday, March 13 from 5:30-7:30pm and Saturday, March 17 from 9:30-11:30am at the YMCA Facility. 2 The Scoop on Specialty Camp NOTE: Specialty camps are 9a-3p, with drop off as early as 7a and pick up as late as 5:45p, except for Thing-A-Ma-Jigs Camp which is 8:30-4: : American Girl $150 Member/$164 Potential Member rising 1 st -3 rd & rising 4 th -8 th Calling all American Girl Doll fans! If you love adventure, helping others, and learning how to be a true friend, then this camp is for you! Campers will spend five days exploring different periods of history with their best doll friend by their side. Both dolls and participants will enjoy period crafts, cooking, games, and a secret adventure. Bring your doll and join us for a week you will never forget! 11-15: Living Arcade $140 Member/$154 Potential Member rising 1 st -3 rd & rising 4 th -8 th Pac Man Mario Kart Minecraft This week is all about your favorite video games! Get ready for the experience of your summer, as we go LIFE SIZE with the coolest video games of all time : Camp Hogwarts $150 Member/$164 Potential Member rising 1 st -3 rd & rising 4 th -8 th Welcome to the Wizarding World of J.K. Rowling s epic book series. Young wizards will be immersed in the realm of Hogwarts. You ll be sorted into houses, compete against other teams for the House Cup, be enrolled in classes like Potions and Herbology and join your house s Quidditch team. You better sign up fast if you want your Muggle to get accepted at Hogwarts, because spaces are limited and it fills fast! 25-29: Hot Wheels $140 Member/$154 Potential Member rising 1 st -3 rd & rising 4 th -8 th Get ready to start your engines as we take our favorite cars to the track! Not only will you get to race your favorite cars this week, but you will get to use your imagination as you design your very own car. And, the sky s the limit as you build the largest Hot Wheel track around! 9-13: Star Wars $150 Member/$164 Potential Member rising 1 st -3 rd & rising 4 th -8 th Ready to be a Jedi? For a week you can train in the ways of the Force. You will have light saber training, learn to draw Star Wars characters, play Jedi games and work together to solve a mission. This week is sure to be a favorite, so sign up fast as the Force is strong with this one : the Y $140 Member/$154 Potential Member rising 4 th -8 th *Hours 8:30-4:30* No early drop off or late pick up available for this camp! It s a what? A thingamajig! Calling all inventors, let s get the juices flowing and start creating! Campers will use recycled materials to create new inventions and concoct new uses for everyday items. This fun week is held at our YMCA Facility. All Specialty Camp weeks require a $50 non-refundable deposit, in addition to a non-refundable $30 registration fee. 5 YMCA SUMMER CAMP PARENT/GUARDIAN AGREEMENT 2018 Camper s health history is complete and accurate, and camper has permission to engage in all activities unless otherwise specified in writing to the Camp Director. I hereby authorize and grant permission to the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA staff and/or medical personnel to give my child basic first aid. In the event I cannot be reached in an emergency, I give permission to medical personnel selected by the YMCA staff to secure and administer treatment (including hospitalization) and provide necessary transportation for my child as named on this application. The YMCA staff will make every effort to notify me whenever my child becomes ill or injured and if required I agree to pick up my child as soon as possible. I understand the YMCA does not provide accident insurance for campers. I hereby authorize and give permission for my child to attend and participate in all activities including water activities and field trips with YMCA transportation. You must set up your bank account or credit/debit card for draft at the time of camp registration along with your non-refundable $30 registration fee. Any requests to switch weeks must be made prior to the first day of camp, May 29, Camp Ironwood Located at Johnson Elementary School. HYPE Camp Located at Sevier Middle School. Specialty Camp Located at Johnson Elementary School. Spaces are limited to 42 each session, with a minimum of at least 15 registered to host. If minimum enrollment is not met 2 weeks prior to the start of that session, it will be cancelled. You will be notified by phone and will be offered a spot at Camp Ironwood or HYPE Camp for that week. Sessions 9 & 10 These sessions are held at our YMCA Facility and spaces are limited to 100 each session. To be eligible for these sessions, camper must be enrolled in at least 4 other weeks of camp. Lunch is not provided on these weeks.
