3 Dear Caregiver: Thank you for your interest in sending your Girl Scout to camp! At camp, girls will Discover, Connect and Take Action as they learn to live the Girl Scout Law and make a difference in the world. They will discover their values and talents through a variety of outdoor activities. Girls will also connect with other girls and adults, learn how to work together as a team and use that teamwork to take action and make the world a better place. We hope you will see the value in this progressive opportunity, and will help keep the history and tradition of the camp alive by volunteering at camp with your Girl Scout. Camp is run by a dedicated team of specially trained volunteers who work year round to make this enriching opportunity possible. Volunteer camps are staffed completely by volunteers, so we welcome caregivers, aunts, uncles, grandparents and other adult friends to volunteer. A background in Girl Scouting is not necessary. Volunteers are asked to complete a volunteer application and background check, and attend training to prepare for your role at camp. Training is mandatory for all volunteers. The training date will be May 26, 2016 at 5:00 p.m., Paulding County Fairgrounds, Youth Building. Detailed information and instructions will be sent in a confirmation packet after you have registered. For additional questions or concerns please contact Barb Fetzer, Camp Director, at or at bltfetzer@gmail.com. Transportation: Transportation will be the responsibility of the caregivers. If you can provide transportation for a carpool or need help from one, contact the camp director. Directions to camp: Take State Route 127 North through Paulding to State Route 24 East. Follow State Route 24 East through Defiance. Take Exit 28 to State Route 281 (Domersville Road). Turn right at top of exit ramp. At second stop light, turn left. Follow Route 281 approximately 4 miles, Camp Libbey will be on the left (North) side of the road. (Camp is about 3 miles past the GM Foundry/Factory.) Health: A nurse or first aider will be available at camp. Check with your physician to see if a tetanus booster or any immunizations are necessary. Medications are the responsibility of the caregiver. Please give any medications your daughter may need to the health supervisor or unit leader in the original container on the first day of camp. Be sure to include written instructions. Please ensure any allergies or dietary restrictions are recorded on your Girl Scout s Health History form and pointed out during check in. Head Check All campers will be screened for head lice/nits. Girl Scout Camp has a no nit policy. Any camper found with nits or lice will not be allowed to stay at camp. If your child had lice before camp, they must be clear of all nits before they are allowed to stay on property. Clothing: Proper dress for the weather is necessary. No halters or sandals. Wear sturdy shoes, socks and hat/bandana and bring rain gear. Camp is not cancelled because of rain. Sleeping Arrangements: We will be using both tents and buildings this year at camp. Girl Scout Brownies will be sleeping in a building or a cabin. Girl Scout Juniors and higher will be asked their preference but will be assigned based on preference and order in which registration was received. Insurance: Every registered Girl Scout and registered caregiver member is automatically covered under the basic plan by Girl Scouts of the USA. This plan is effective from October to the following October. This insurance provides up to a specified maximum for medical expenses incurred as a result of an accident while a member is participating in an approved Girl Scout activity, after the individual s primary insurance pays out. Caregivers: If you feel this camp is unsafe or a hazard to children you should contact Van Wert County Children's Services Department at

4 Activity Costs: (Cost includes food, crafts, T-shirt, patch and site fees) All Girl Scouts $45 Adult Volunteers $30 Membership fee for non registered girls and adults $15 (All girls and adults participating in camp must be registered as Girl Scouts for the membership year.) Make checks payable to Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. Complete the registration, session form (see back of cover page) and return with payment to: Pamela Cassidy, 9825 Pleasant Drive, Van Wert, OH Do not send registrations to the Girl Scout Center. All registrations received at the Girl Scout Center will be forwarded on a weekly basis and may cause your child to not be placed in their first choice sessions or be closed out of camp. Financial Assistance: Financial assistance may be available for girls who want to attend but are unable to do so because of limited family income. Applicants must pay at least $25 (55 percent) of the camp fee. Please include payment for the total amount your family can pay with the registration form. Financial aid is limited based on how many apply. If you are still unable to cover costs not previously paid, contact your troop leader to explore other payment options. Refund Policy: Money may be refunded for the following reasons only: 1. Moving out of town. 2. Illness or exposure to a communicable disease. 3. Required attendance at summer school. 4. Painting Fun Surprise Painting class will be one of 3 different techniques guaranteed fun! Letter Boxing Learn to use a compass while searching for treasure. Basic Fairy Garden Learn about Fairies and set up a garden where they would like to come visit. God's Eye Shirley Warnimont. Create your very own God s Eye with colorful yarn. Cake Decorating Learn the basics of cake decorating with cupcakes. Session #1 for Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors Crochet Learn to crochet and make a small carry-all Guided Painting Learn the basic of painting while making bag. a unique piece of art. Stepping Stones Create an original piece of garden art. Pop-Up Scrapbooking Create a unique scrapbook, will hold 12 photos. Bun Bucket A new twist on an old favorite, Any Girl Scout Brownie Session the sit-upon. (Must be in grade 6 Geo-Caching Have fun learning how to use a GPS and or higher) Session is an extra $6.00 per girl, payable with other navigational techniques to help seek geocaches registration. If their first choice is full, they will be placed in their second choice, etc. If girls do not have a second or third choice selected, staff will place them in a session with openings. 4

7 Adult Volunteer Registration Form We need your help! Our camp is staffed entirely by adult volunteers. A previous Girl Scout camp experience is not necessary. Training, which will prepare you for your role at camp, is mandatory. All unit leaders must complete this form. If you are not already an approved adult volunteer, you will be asked to complete a Girl Scouts of Western Ohio Volunteer Application, a background check and to become a registered member of Girl Scouts. Ways adults can help: Adults are needed as unit leaders. Unit leaders will have fun with girls, while taking part in exciting camp activities that are pre-planned by administrative staff volunteers. They will also have the opportunity to assist girls in decision making as campers plan their unit activities for the weekend. Unit leaders must attend training, which will prepare them for their role at camp (see below).
