2 Wilderness Survival- can you survive the Wild 2016 Troop 275 Adult Leaders Rob Harrington Steve Davidsen Tina Houston Ben Rostren Kristen Ziegler Crew 1776 David Williams Scoutmaster Troop Dear Scouts and Scouters Your Troop is invited to attend the Annual Northeast District Spring Camporee. This year s theme is Wilderness Survival. The Camporee Dates are April 22, April 24, This year s Camporee will take place in the woods of Camp Ransburg. This Registration packet will help you to inform your troop about what is happening at Camporee this year. Activities will include Wilderness survival skills training. We will focus on First Aid, Orienteering, Bugout Bags, Shelter building, Fire building, Water Treatment, Survival Essentials. Scouts need to bring everything that they need for a long hike in the woods gone wrong. Please plan to bring everything you think you will need. This weekend will put to the test your ability to Be Prepared.. Check in Check in will be Friday night between 6pm and 9pm. If you arrive early you will need to wait until 6pm to check in. Please plan to bring your registration paperwork to check in so this process goes quickly. You can earn extra points if you bring a can good to the check in. All can goods will be donated to a local food bank.

3 Wilderness Survival- Can you survive the Wild Fire Building& Water Treatment- You re lost and it s getting dark soon. You have been walking for hours and are really thirsty. You come upon a pond, but it looks pretty disgusting. Can you drink the water?? It s getting dark and going to get cold at night can you build a fire? You will cover how to combat both of those situations. Survival Essential & Shelter building- You are lost in the Woods and come upon a clearing. Is this useful? How can you use this to your advantage? It s getting dark soon and you will need to spend the night in the woods. You look around and the Holiday Inn is nowhere to be found. What will you do? Where will you sleep? Bugout Bags & Orienteering- You are going to set out for a long hike with a friend. You have your back pack and are ready to go. Did you pack everything you will need? Do you have that tarp your scoutmaster always told you to carry? You took a Right turn at the old dead stump and you were supposed to go Left. You realized that about three hours ago but continued walking. Can you find your way out of the woods? First Aid- That Short day hike you and your buddy were going to take just got a lot longer when he fell and twisted his ankle and can t walk very well. Do you know what to do? Or the new Boots you bought the morning of the hike have rubbed you the wrong way all day and now you have a blister on your foot. What will you do?

4 Wilderness Survival- Can you survive the Wild Cooking competition: You will be given 4 ingredients to make a meal from. You can use any thing that is edible that you find in the wild and any spices you have in your Patrol box. Your goal is to create a meal that will keep you alive. Extra points will be given for taste. Bugout Bag: Each Troop/Patrol should have a Bugout Bag with them. Pack what you think you will need for a long hike in the woods. Plan for the worst, Be Prepared!! Points will be given based on content. CampSite: Judging will be based on Gateway, Cleanliness, posting of proper signage and best use of Wilderness Survival on the camp. Saturday Dinner : Dinner will be provided by Troop 275 and Venture crew We will be cooking a Chile Dinner for the Northeast District. Menu: Chili Vegetarian Chili Hot Dogs Fruit Salad Lemonade/Water
