1 Camp Recky 2014 Job Duties This list is representative of the types of duties each position will have, but is not all-inclusive. For more information, contact Kristin Hayes, or Program Director (1 position) 38 hours per week, $12-$14 per hour (Must be able to attend supervisor training May 19-22) Assists in scheduling camp staff with the professional staff member and administrative director Reviews and approves camp payroll Maintains inventory of camp equipment and supplies, and coordinates with professional staff about camp equipment and supplies purchasing Answers customer questions via phone, in person, and in afternoon hours Supports, supervises and evaluates Sports, Scamper, Discovery, Explorer and Adventure Camps supervisors by being on-site as needed Assists with coordinating camp activities with facility staff members such as lifeguards, crew chiefs, facility managers and supervisors, etc. and external partners Together, with the professional staff member, make decisions about extreme heat conditions and limit camp outdoor activities based on heat index. Makes sure all staff are aware of any limitations/adjustments that should be implemented based on the heat and camper safety Serves as a liaison between camp staff and camp professional staff Submits daily camp reports to professional staff member Creates and distributes weekly camp newsletter to parents and other parent information Oversees behavior management of campers and maintains behavior records Oversees camp safety and security and stringently enforces all safety and risk management policies Oversees emergency management situations as needed Oversees camp maintenance as needed with appropriate people Attends and contributes to weekly meetings with program supervisors Attends and contributes to weekly all staff meetings Conducts camp program evaluations for staff Works with professional staff and administrative director to plan an end of the summer picnic/show in conjunction with end of the summer events Assists Camp Recky supervisors with assigned duties Fills in when needed for absent staff Uses management by walking around techniques
2 Administrative Director (1 position) 38 hours per week, $12-$14 per hour (Must be able to attend supervisor training May 19-22) Works closely with professional staff and program director to ensure efficient and well organized daily camp operations Helps program leaders with supervising daily activities as needed Maintains and distributes weekly counselor rosters Maintains and distributes weekly before and after care rosters Prepares weekly staff clipboards in cooperation with camp supervisors Oversees behavior management of campers and maintains behavior records Maintains open communications with customers Serves as a front line customer service representative for camp programs Helps oversees emergency management situations as needed Oversees camp safety and security and stringently enforces all safety and risk management policies Oversees camp maintenance as needed with appropriate people Maintains inventory of camp equipment and supplies and coordinates with professional staff about camp equipment and supply purchasing. Answers customer questions via phone, in person, and Provides support during camper sign out at the end of the camp day Works with supervisors to maintain neat and accessible storage areas (including babysitting room) Maintains camp lost and found Submits daily camp reports to professional staff member With the professional staff member makes decisions about extreme heat conditions and limits camp outdoor activities based on heat index. Makes sure staff are aware of any limitations/adjustments that they should implement based on the heat and camper safety Conducts camp program evaluations for staff Attends and contributes to weekly meetings with supervisors Attends and contributes to weekly all staff meetings Fills in when needed for absent staff Works with professional staff and program director to plan an end of the summer picnic/show in conjunction with end of the summer events
3 Camp Supervisor (4 positions) 38 hours per week, starting at $10 per hour (Must be able to attend supervisor training May 19-22) - Scamper Camp Supervisor (Completed kindergarten and grade 1) - Discovery Camp Supervisor (Completed grades 2 and 3) - Adventure Camp Supervisor (Completed grades 4, 5 and 6) - Sports Camp Supervisor (Completed grades K through 6) During spring semester, plans specific, weekly, full day camp curriculum for each age group to reflect camp goals and themes Sets and supervises camp opening and closing day procedures for campers and staff Is present at camp in the morning while afternoons consist of planning time, along with management by walking around techniques Works closely with the Adapted Recreational Sports program to provide accommodations and modifications to provide an environment for campers of all abilities. Determines specific camp equipment and supply needs and supplies requisitions in a timely manner Prepares supplies for daily activities Uses personal creativity and experiences, and seeks resources to provide activities which stimulate learning and creativity amongst campers Plans and executes weekly camp field trips (Discovery, Explorer and Adventure camps) when applicable, including transportation, fees, schedule, etc. Coordinates camp schedule, including special events and activities, with Camp Recky directors Oversees execution of camp curriculum by camp counselors Supervises and supports counselors assigned to his/her camp Maintains organization of supplies and equipment Eats lunch with campers and staff Ensures campers get to their assigned afternoon camp on time Is accessible to staff by being with the groups during their activities and programs Works with the environmental specialist to add an environmental element to each individual camp on a weekly basis Communicates with parents daily, handles camper incidents. Shares results with camp program director, administrative director and professional staff Oversees behavior management of campers and maintains behavior records for their camp Assists Camp Recky directors with projects when needed Fills in when needed for absent staff
4 Supervisor: Kids in the Kitchen Camp (1 position) hours per week, starting at $10 per hour Develops, implements and oversees the Kids in the Kitchen camp programs to include menu and activity planning, and purchasing items from local grocery stores Becomes trained in kitchen and food safety and/or have prior experience with this topic Leads the other assigned counselors in achieving the goals for the week and ensuring the campers have a successful, fun experience Responsible for cleaning up the demo kitchen Oversees behavior management of campers and maintains behavior records for their camp Works with other camp supervisors to solve problems that arise and come up with new program ideas Supervisor: Teen Leaders Camp and Triple T (Teens, Trips & Travel) Camp 38 hours per week, starting at $10 per hour Must be at least 21 years of age Works with teens aged years old Develops, implements and oversees a comprehensive trip and travel program Develops and implements a variety of activities and events centered around leadership during the weeks of Teen Leaders Camp Makes connections with teens and provide them with useful life tools Oversees behavior management of campers and maintains behavior records for their camp Works with the professional staff, program director and administrative director to solve problems as they arise Attends van training and certification to be able to transport campers
5 Program Leader (5 positions) 38 hours per week, starting at $9 per hour - Scamper/Buckeye Camp (Completed kindergarten and grade 1) - 2x Discovery/Brutus Camp (Completed grades 2 and 3) - Adventure/Scarlet Camp (Completed grades 4, 5 and 6) - Sports Camp (Completed grades K through 6) Serves as a lead counselor in their specific camp during the afternoon activities while the camp supervisor is planning in the office Leads groups through afternoon rotations in a timely manner Supports counselors assigned to his/her camp Deals with behavior issues and emergency situations in the afternoon when the supervisor is not present Communicates a daily report to the supervisor of each camp Maintains organization of supplies and equipment in the afternoon Eats lunch with campers and staff Leads camper sign out to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible Assists camp supervisors in any capacity needed Inclusion Specialist Position 20 to 38 hours per week, starting at $8.00 per hour Works with children aged 5-14 years old Works in low ratios with campers with disabilities in providing an inclusive camp environment Is the go-to within the camp for working with kids with disabilities Develops, implements and oversees various program activities, including sports and games, aquatics, creative arts and more Works closely with camp supervisors to come up with new ideas and solve behavior issues, bullying and other problems that arise Makes connections with campers and develops meaningful relationships Works with other counselors to ensure a cohesive camping environment that serves all involved Eats lunch with campers and ensure that the eating area is clean Follows camp rules and core values Shows enthusiasm for camp and the various activities to encourage campers to get involved in all camp activities Instructs campers on emergency procedures and ensures that procedures are followed correctly in emergency situations and all campers are accounted for Signs campers in at the start of every day and signs them out at the end of the day, ensuring that the camper is picked up by the person that was named on the sign-in sheet Encourages campers to respect the camp equipment, facilities and personal property Maintains good public relations with all campers parents
