1 OBHA NEWS 2018 Year End Wrap Up 2019 Show Dates April Aug. 3-4 Oct. 5-6 Upcoming Events 2018 Awards Banquet: Season in Review OBHA had a very successful show season in 2018 and it s all because of our wonderful members and friends that come show with us. We packed a lot of amazing events into each weekend and made some pretty great memories along the way. April brought in the Bloomin Blowout featuring our Friday Night Social with a hot dog cookout and OBHA s first dog show competition. Then came the cold! We finished out the weekend with both a Youth and Adult Western Walk/Trot Challenge. Time: Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:45 am. Place: Osage Casino, Skiatook, OK RSVP: Please send in the reservation ticket to Beckie Honeck by January 18. Year End Awards This year OBHA will be giving out many amazing awards to class and division champions ranging from buckles and jackets to trophies, sheets and blankets! For those of you who may not have won an award this year we will have many drawings to give away great prizes to anyone attending the banquet. May s Scissortail Spectacular was highlighted with a free Showmanship Clinic presented by ABRA Judge Jeff Ray and his wife Angela of Ray Show Horses. We also enjoyed an ice cream Social and held a raffle to raise money for new trail equipment! The special class events were Youth and Adult Showmanship Buckle Challenges. Many of our members competed in the ABRA World Show this year winning World Championships, Reserve World Championships and Top 10 Finalist awards. Ava Smith did an 3
2 Reminders You can purchase your 2019 memberships at the Awards Banquet and in doing so you will be entered into a drawing for a prize! We will have a live and silent auction at the banquet so please help by bringing items that can be auctioned off. Horse related items are great, but non-horse related is appreciated too. As always we plan on auctioning off baked goods provided by our members who enjoys creating delicious treats. So please bring those baked goodies as proceeds from the auctions will help purchase awards for next year. There will be a short business meeting to elect 2019 Board Officers. You do not have to be present to be nominated. All club members are eligible to vote. These are working positions. To find out more about duties of the officers or nominate someone please contact Dinah Coop Meetings are usually held once a month in Owasso. amazing job representing OBHA in the ABRA Youth We were Ridin in the Pink in October. Our Friday Night Social competition. Thank you Ava! featured a costume contest, bouncy horse race, pumpkin decorating contest and pizza party. Sean Johnson gave a free clinic, The Full Moon Mule Co. fed us, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Tulsa Cancer Society, and we had an exciting All Age Western Walk/Trot Challenge! We hosted our annual Yearling Challenge and Futurity classes with the Champions winning cash prizes and beautiful neck ribbons. OBHA 2018 Awards Banquet The banquet will be held at Osage Casino in Skiatook on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at 11:45 am.. THE COST: $17 per person (ages 9&over), $13 for ages 8 & under. NOTE: There will be a $5 fee added at the door for each meal that WAS NOT prepaid. The Osage Casino is West of Skiatook on Hwy 20. All attending need to PRE-PAY to reserve a meal! Please make your reservations by returning the form below w/ money to BECKIE HONECK by Jan. 18! This will insure we have enough food for everyone at the banquet!
