2 Dear Camper Families, I am thrilled that you are considering Camp Cove at the Naik Family for your child s summer adventure! We ve changed our name but not our philosophy. Camp provides a safe and exciting place for campers to experience new things, build friendships, learn important life skills and feel a sense of belonging. Your camper will learn life saving skills during swim lessons and boating periods in addition to all of the unique activities we offer. 3 CAMP COVE OFFERS: BE ACTIVE BE YOURSELF BELONG A TEAM of seasonal summer STAFF as well as full-time DIRECTORS care for your child at camp. Our summer staff are selected for their strong character, maturity, enthusiasm and commitment to our Y values. Many are camp alumni and choose to work at camp to ensure that your child has the same amazing experience that they did! Staff undergo extensive screening including annual criminal background checks and reference checks. We provide staff training covering behavioral management, camper safety, child abuse prevention, social facilitation, CPR/AED/First Aid certification, child development and team building. Our staff strive to ENCOURAGE group participation and cooperation, building SELF-CONFIDENCE and SELF ESTEEM to give each camper an opportunity to develop life-long interests in a variety of program areas. 4 TOGETHER WE ARE ACTIVE CREATIVE CONFIDENT ADVENTUROUS LICENSED BY THE STATE OF CT ACA ACCREDITED Camp Cove is nestled along the shores of the Mystic River on over 20 acres. Our facilities include 120 feet of beachfront, baseball fields, playground, tennis courts, pavilion, beach volleyball and the Naik Family facility. The Y facility houses a gymnasium, swimming pool, teen center and many other areas in case of inclement weather. Our camp also includes programs designed to build character by instilling our values; CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY. Traditional Camp allows campers to try a variety of activities in a small age-appropriate group with the same counselor each day who is able to focus on each individual camper. Traditional Camp Activities include: DAILY SWIM LESSONS IN INDOOR POOL DAILY RECREATIONAL BEACH SWIM PERIOD SAILING* KAYAKING* CANOEING PADDLE BOARDING* ARTS & CRAFTS ARCHERY NATURE SPORTS MARINE SCIENCE LOW ROPES GA GA TEAM BUILDING *Age or swim level requirement for participation FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

5 Specialty Camps allow campers to focus on a specialty activity AND get a taste of traditional camp. COVE ADVENTURES CAMP Enjoy kayaking, stand up paddle boards and sailing as you explore Williams Cove and the Mystic River. Campers will also adventure on a day long kayaking trip to discover and enjoy a picnic lunch. MARINE SCIENCE CAMP Bring a sense of adventure to explore the Marine life in Williams Cove and the Mystic River! COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM Leadership program for campers entering 9th & 10th Grades. CIT s develop their leadership, camper management and self management skills while taking part in community service projects and having the summer of a life-time! CARDBOARD CREATION CAMP Calling all young engineers! Design and create using Cardboard, Duct Tape and other recycled materials! 6 PROGRAMS AND GOALS Campers enjoy a variety of outdoor experiences which promote physical activity, mental creativity and an environment to build lifelong friendships. Camp also provides children the opportunity to develop independence, resiliency and a sense of self-empowerment. ACA ACCREDITATION As part of our commitment to the highest standards of health, safety and program quality, we choose to be accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA is the only independent accrediting organization in the country that reviews camping operations against strict quality standards. For more information, visit acacamps.org. Y-CARES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Through generous volunteer and community support we are able to send children to camp who otherwise would not be able to attend.
