This Cookware Product Training Seminar will focus on sharing the products. This seminar will provide your consultants with the knowledge to fully understand the features of our exclusive Nutri Cooking System and how together with water-less cooking it can benefit their customers. Armed with a full understanding of these wonderful products they will be able to present the products in a compelling way that will help increase not only their sales success, but their ability to share their product passion with others in their recruiting efforts. Before beginning the Seminar Before beginning the seminar, you may want to read the Use & Care section of the Rena Ware Use & Care/ Cookbook (RW361), watch the Healthy Cooking video and review the Product Brochure (RW760). This seminar will focus on cookware additional training will be needed for the other products. Please note that this seminar is slightly different from the Rena Ware University seminars. Since the subject matter requests so many diagrams and reference material, Participants will receive a Reference Guide instead of Participant s Guide. Therefore, there are no fill-in-the blanks exercises and the Trainer s Guide will not include italicized text to indicate what is in the Reference Guide. The only icon you will see in the Training Guide is one that indicates when to review the recommended page from the Reference Guide. 7 I. CHARACTERISTICS & BENEFITS What makes Rena Ware so unique? Allow the class to respond. They could say things like the warranty, construction or other feature, and then you could say: yes those things are very important and make Rena Ware a unique company. Quality Everything starts with quality.. For nearly 70 years, the Rena Ware name has stood for top quality products. Cookware sets sold in the 1950 s and 1960 s are still being used and enjoyed today. Rena Ware has thousands of satisfied customers around the world who love their Rena Ware products. What makes Rena Ware such an enduring brand? Part of it is a commitment to quality. Rena Ware cookware undergoes a rigorous Testing and Inspection process that ensures that each piece meets the exact specifications set by Rena Ware s product development team. Rena Ware defines the minutest detail of the shape, trim, base, set down, thickness, and mirror finish of each piece, as well as the shape of the lip, thickness, and roundness of each cover. This ensures a precision fit with the base utensil for a perfect water seal. Rena Ware also specifies the type and quality grade of the stainless steel and phenolic trim used in its cookware. With such precise specifications, Rena Ware can control the manufacturing process to ensure a top quality product every time. 8 Inspections Our products undergo an exhaustive quality inspection during the production run to verify that all standards are met for each batch. In addition, before products are shipped, third-party professional inspectors go to key factories and perform a multi-point inspection on random samples to ensure that each production run meets the Rena Ware standards. Once the shipment is received at each Rena Ware warehouse around the world, Rena Ware inspectors conduct a third inspection where random pieces are pulled from each shipment and subjected to a final quality checklist. The Nutri Cookware Construction Only the best materials Rena Ware manufactures its utensils with the most durable, high quality stainless steel and combines it with other highly heat conductive metals to create the best combination for healthy water-less cooking. Stainless Steel Let s start with stainless steel. Rena Ware is known for its stainless steel products. Stainless steel is a very high quality and durable metal that is easy to care for and looks good for a lifetime. Because of its highly durable properties Rena Ware is able to offer a lifetime warranty on its cookware products. High quality stainless steel does not react with food, and has a smooth and easy to clean surface. It was named stainless steel because it is less likely to stain, another word for rusting. If not properly cared for, stainless steel can rust, pit, or otherwise show effects of prolonged exposure to food or water. Technically, the term 18/8 stainless steel means the stainless steel alloy contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The chromium provides rust and corrosion resistance and durability. Nickel provides additional rust resistance, hardness, and high polishing characteristics. Most of the stainless Rena Ware uses is 18/8. The 8% nickel, however, neutralizes the magnetic properties of the iron in the steel alloy. So to make the stainless steel magnetic for use on induction cookers we use 18/0 with no nickel, for the exterior ply. RW240 WW

9 Hygienic and heat conducting properties Why is the construction of Rena Ware utensils so important? It is because of the hygienic and heat conducting properties. To make an ideal utensil, you need to have both high heat conductivity and a durable, hygienic surface material. Stainless steel (both 18/8 and 18/0) is non-porous and very hygienic. It is often used in hospitals and restaurants for its cleanliness and resistance to bacteria growth and used in food storage tanks due its corrosion resistance and anti-bacterial properties. But it is a poor heat conductor. Aluminum is one of the best heat conductors, but it is not very hygienic. So with Rena Ware s multi-ply cookware you have the perfect marriage of two metals: aluminum for a very efficient heat conductive core with a hygienic, easy to clean stainless steel outer cooking surface. The aluminum layers (or layer) are enclosed between two stainless steel layers, so no aluminum touches the food. Let s review Reference Guide page 4. Nutri-Plex Now, what is Nutri-Plex? Allow class to respond. Nutri-Plex is Rena Ware s exclusive trade-marked name for any combination of multiple layers, or ply s of metal, including solid single-ply stainless steel with a multi-ply Nutri-Plex diffusion bottom. The most important Nutri-Plex construction is 5-ply aluminum core, which is the construction of our Chef I and Chef II sets. Show a sample of each product if you have one. 5-ply Aluminum Core consists of: 1) Inner layer of 18/8 stainless steel 2) Layer of nearly pure aluminum 3) Layer of aluminum alloy with added minerals for strength 4) Layer of nearly pure aluminum 5) Outer layer of 18/0 magnetic stainless steel RW240WW

10 Nutri-Plex is also used to describe all of the following: Solid Stainless Steel with a Nutri-Plex diffusion bottom which consists of: Single-ply, or solid, stainless steel side walls. Thick, magnetic Nutri-Plex (multi-ply) diffusion bottom. The diffusion bottom contains layers of aluminum and 18/0 stainless steel. This construction is used for large utensils and skillets. It is also the construction of the 6 Litre Roaster. 3-ply Aluminum Core which consists of: 1) Inner layer of 18/8 stainless steel 2) Middle layer of aluminum 3) Outer layer of 18/0 magnetic stainless steel There is another construction that was phased out years ago that you should be aware of because you will encounter previous customers that have it. It is 3-ply Carbon Core which consists of: 1) Inner layer of 18/8 stainless steel 2) Middle layer of carbon steel core, which is magnetic 3) Outer layer of 18/8 stainless steel You can find the specific construction for each piece of Rena Ware cookware in your Product Fact Sheet (RW 932) which is part of the Starter Kit. The sheet is updated and reissued as products are introduced or changed. The Product Fact sheet is for your reference and indicates the construction, capacity and country of origin of each Rena Ware product. If you are asked a question about any of these points, you can look it up in your Product Fact Sheet. RW240 WW

11 All Rena Ware products are manufactured to the highest quality control standards and Rena Ware s strict international specifications in selected factories around the world. No matter where a piece of cookware is manufactured, it will have the same specifications and will be interchangeable with the same Rena Ware cookware piece manufactured elsewhere. And will carry out world famous guarantee. So what are the benefits of Nuti-Plex construction? Ask the class to respond. Because of the unique Rena Ware design, heat is distributed evenly and moisture is retained within the utensil. This allows for water-less cooking, which we will talk about more later in the seminar. Optional: Demonstrate this special heat conduction by pouring hot water in a utensil and pass it to the participants to feel the heat go up the sides only demonstrate with multi-ply utensils. The special construction and design are what allow for the unique cook, serve, store and bake benefits. With multi-ply construction, you can not only cook in Rena Ware, but you can also serve in the same utensil and the food will stay warm during the meal. The hygienic properties of the stainless steel also allow you to store leftovers in the utensil and keep in the refrigerator until you are ready to reheat them in the same utensil. You do have to be careful with certain highly acidic foods, such as tomato sauce, lemon juice, salt and strong bleaches which should not be stored for long periods of time. Plus you can use Rena Ware in an oven so you can bake in it or make casseroles. The handles and knobs are made of a special phenolic material that can withstand heat up to 200 C or 400 F. Now you should better understand the cook, serve, store and bake feature which is part of our cookware sales story. Induction compatibility Rena Ware cookware is compatible with gas, electric, vitrio-ceramic and halogen cooktops. Plus, all of our new Rena Ware cookware is compatible with induction cooktops due to a magnetic stainless steel outer layer. One of the differentiating features of Rena Ware that sets us apart from the competition is that you can offer a Rena Ware induction cooker along with a Rena Ware cookware set. RW240WW

12 Therefore, you can sell the cooking surface as well as the cookware, and give your customers all the advantages of the cool, fast and efficient induction cooker to provide even more value. Rena Ware uses graphic symbols on its cartons to signify with which types of cooktops the cookware is compatible. VITRIO GAS ELECTRIC CERAMIC HALOGEN INDUCTION You should be aware that some previous versions of Rena Ware 5-ply, or Ultra Ply were not induction compatible so you may encounter customers with non-induction compatible Rena Ware. Other non-rena Ware cookware constructions that are not induction compatible include copper, aluminum, anodized aluminum, glass and non-magnetic stainless steel. If applicable, the Rena Ware magnet (or any magnet) can be used to show a customer that Rena Ware utensils are magnetic. It makes a nice demonstration. You can also use it to test if your customer s current cookware is magnetic. Rena Ware magnets also make good gifts for customers to keep on their refrigerator where they will always see the Rena Ware name. Exercise: Place the magnet to the bottom of any Rena Ware utensil, it will stick immediately. Now try to place it on non-magnetic utensil and the magnet will fall off. Comparative materials Rena Ware has advantages over many other types of cookware construction and can easily be sold on its own merits. While you can compare Rena Ware to other types of construction, you should never raise health claims about other cookware materials. Do not make health claims or use unapproved negative propaganda against aluminum or Teflon (or any other type of cookware. Exaggeration of claims or using negative propaganda against other cookware is not necessary and making untrue statements against other cookware is unlawful. Also, do not make any specific and direct health claims with respect to Rena Ware cookware. Rena Ware advocates a healthy diet and promotes the benefits of the water-less cooking method which uses less fats and oils and preserves more of the vitamin and mineral content of foods. However, Rena Ware does not cure or treat cancer, diabetes or any other disease, and you must not make any such claims. Know your facts Nonstick Nonstick coating such Teflon brand and others non-stick coatings tend to chip off and wear out plus lose their nonstick properties over time, causing them to need to be replaced more frequently than stainless steel. Important Legal Note: Never say Teflon (or other non-stick materials) can cause lead poisoning or other diseases. The idea that there is a connection between non-stick materials and disease RW240 WW

13 has been generally discredited in the scientific community and it is the strict policy of the Company that no reference to non-stick and any disease be made in connection with the sale of Rena Ware. Aluminum Aluminum utensils are hard to clean and may pit. They can also blacken food. Aluminum is a soft material and the interior can wear over time. Important Legal Note: Do not link the use of aluminum cookware to Alzheimer s disease. The notion that there is a connection between aluminum and Alzheimer s has been generally discredited in the scientific community and it is the strict policy of the Company that no reference to aluminum and any disease be made in connection with the sale of Rena Ware. Hard anodized aluminum is durable and a good heat conductor, but is easily discolored and can be hard to clean. Usually it cannot be washed in a dishwasher. Aluminum, aluminum nonstick or anodized aluminum will not work on induction. Cast Iron & Enamel Cast iron utensils are heavy and distribute heat evenly. But it can be hard to control the temperature, especially to lower the heat since they retain heat so well. They are also hard to clean, can rust and can retain food particles. Enamel on steel has poor heat dispersion and can chip. Enamel coated steel or cast iron utensils can stain and chip and become unsightly over time. They can burn food easily. Cast iron and enamel coated steel and cast iron are induction compatible. Copper Copper utensils are excellent heat conductors, but require a lot of maintenance and are very expensive. They need polishing and occasional relining of the interior. Glass Glass is a poor heat conductor, can burn food and it breaks easily. Glass and copper utensils are not induction compatible. Stainless Steel Single-ply Single-ply stainless steel is easy to clean but has slow and uneven heating. Cookware sets Turn to page 7 in your Reference Guide. Rena Ware s Nutri Cookware sets are the building blocks of our sales, and our presentation story is built around them. The term Nutri refers to our entire line of quality stainless steel cookware. It is therefore very important to understand each set. The sets and their contents are shown in first few pages of the Product Brochure (RW760). RW240WW

14 Our signature set is the 17 pc. Gourmet Set. It includes the Chef I Set plus the Chef II Set plus the 6 Litre Roaster and the 6L Grater/Steamer Tray. Chef I Set = 2 Litre w/cover, 4 Litre w/cover, Inset Pan and Large Frypan w/cover. Chef II Set = 1.5 Litre w/cover, 3 Litre w/cover, 3L Grater/Steamer Tray and the 5 Litre w/cover Mini Chef Set = Little Jewel (1L) w/cover, Milk Warmer (1.5L) w/ 2 covers, and the Renita (1.2L) w/ cover You should note that the 6 Litre Roaster in the Gourmet Set is single-ply with a Nutri-Plex multi-ply diffusion bottom and the Inset Pan is single-ply. Tip: If you have all the sets, put the sets (in their boxes) on a table in front of everybody. Ask a participant to help you unpack the boxes and identify which utensil they are getting out of the box. Place all utensils on a large table to use later, try to keep each set separate from the others. 15 Utility of Many Separate Utensils What gives the sets their incredible value is their versatility. Because of the unique design of each piece and the way they all work together, each set has the utility of many separate utensils. What do we mean by the utility of virtually 66 utensils? Since you can cook, store, serve, and bake with Rena Ware s special construction, you get the benefit of using each piece for several applications. Let s review the applications for 1.5 Litre. Tip: Show the 1.5 L utensil as you discuss each application For example, the 1.5 Litre can be used as: - A small saucepan ( to cook soup or a sauce) - A small fry pan ( to cook a fried egg) - A small baking casserole (to cook a small casserole dish or flan dessert) - A refrigerator storage unit (to store leftovers) - A table top serving dish (place it on its upside down cover) - A small Dutch oven when topped with the Renita (to cook whole apples or pears) - A larger Dutch oven when it tops a 3 Litre, 4 Litre, or Small Classic Skillet (to cook a small chicken or roast) - A double boiler when used with the Inset Pan resting inside of it (to melt custards or melt chocolate) - A double boiler when it rests inside a Renita (same) - As part of a steamer when used as a cover over the 3L Grater/Steamer Tray in the 3 Litre, 4 Litre or Small Classic skillet (to steam broccoli or other vegetables, or steam fish) The 1.5 Litre is therefore like having 14 separate utensils, can you do this with any other cookware? 16 Combinations Another part of the Rena Ware wow factor is the amazing number of combinations that can be created with the pieces in the cookware system. Using the full range of cookware pieces from 1 Litre to 27 Litres, you can create more than 140 combinations. How does it work? Rena Ware s unique construction provides for integration with other Rena Ware pieces. Same diameter clusters, for example, 1.5 Litre, 2 Litre, and Inset Pan, all have the same diameter and use the same cover. They all fit on the next diameter cluster, 3 Litre, 4 Litre, and Small Classic Skillet, as a Dome cover. Review pages 8-9 in the Reference Guide. Demonstrate by putting the 22 cm cover on the 1.5 LItre, the 2 Litre and the Inset Pan. Do the same with the other diameter covers. There are 4 diameters for the 12 utensils in the 17pc Gourmet Set and Small Classic Skillet - 22 cm diameter Litre, 2 Litre, Inset Pan - 24 cm 3 Litre, 4 Litre, Small Classic Skillet - 26 cm 5 Litre - 28 cm 6 Litre, Large Frypan There are 3 diameters for the large pieces, 8 Litre and larger, including the Large Classic Skillet - 30 cm diameter Queen Cooker, Large Classic Skillet - 36 cm King Cooker, Super Deluxe Cooker - 38 cm Gran Cacerola, Max Cooker By mixing and matching you can make many handy combinations for more convenient cooking options. Demonstrate with samples if you have them. Cover a 6 Litre base utensil with an inverted 5 Litre utensil and you have a large Dutch Oven for stove-top roasting. Or use the 3L Grater Steamer Tray in the 4 Litre and cover with an inverted 2 Litre you can cook chicken in the base utensil and steam broccoli on the Steam Tray at the same time. And you can place your plates on top of the 2 Litre to warm. Turn to Reference Guide page 11 for an illustration of the basic combinations of the sets. RW240 WW

With the full 1-27 Litre total system you have 147 total combinations. Stack Cooking Because of the way the cookware pieces fit together you can stack the utensils one on top of another to cook on one burner. This efficient way of cooking saves both space and energy. This is possible because of Rena Ware s exceptional heat conductivity, which transfers heat from the burner all the way up to the top utensil. Refer to the Reference Guide, page 13. The Rena Ware Tower shows how all pieces work together. Obviously the tower is not a practical stack but it is useful to illustrate how all the pieces are specially designed to work together. Since stack cooking is a unique Rena Ware feature, most people are not familiar with it. So let s review the basics. Ask a volunteer to work with you on the stacking cooking demo. Follow the recipe for water-less Pasta Primavera with Vegetables found in the Cooking Demonstration Recipes at the end of the Trainer s Guide. There are two key things to remember. One, you need to bring each utensil to a water seal on a regular burner or induction cooker before stacking it on top of another utensil. Two, you should cover it with an inverted utensil instead of the regular cover. This provides a flat surface on which to place the next utensil. Think of it as a creating an extra burner surface. Only the top utensil should be covered with a regular Nutri Sensor cover. RW240WW

18 A water seal is reached when little bubbles form around the rim and the inverted utensil glides gently when spun. You can stack and cook up to 3 utensils high. Only the bottom two utensils will continue to cook once stacked, the top one will finish cooking or keep warm only. Some of the benefits of stack cooking are: You can prepare an entire meal finishing on one burner saving energy, and space. You can keep food warm for long time. For example, you can prepare everything then let it stay warm until you are ready to eat, allowing the cook to relax for awhile before serving dinner in the same utensils, making mealtimes and entertaining less stressful. Here are more suggestions for stack cooked meals: Rice is ideally suited to stack cooking it cooks fluffy and moist if brought to a boil over medium heat and then stacked to finish cooking. Allow at least 30 minutes, and cooking longer will not spoil it. (see Cooking demonstration recipes). A complete chicken dinner is easily cooked by putting chicken pieces with cut up potatoes, peppers, onions in the 6 Litre base utensil, rice in the Inset pan covered with the 5 Litre, and additional vegetables in the 3 Litre covered with the 2 Litre and an extra dish like cooked apples in the 1.5 Litre on top. (see Cooking demonstration recipes). Some foods are not suitable for stack cooking such as whole potatoes, because they need too much time and heat to cook properly. Also, foods that take less than 10 minutes, such as spinach and Chinese pea pods are not suitable, because they do not improve with longer cooking. Root vegetables like carrots, beets, turnips, potatoes should be diced to shorten their cooking time when stacked. Use of Special Pieces If you have the Inset Pan, Grater/Steamer trays and a Milk Warmer, show them or ask for volunteer to demonstrate its use. Please refer to the Reference Guide, page 14. Inset Pan The Inset Pan is a versatile piece that can be used in several ways in many utensils. For example, it can be used as double boiler by placing it in the 1.5 Litre, 2 Litre, 3 Litre, or 4 Litre. RW240 WW

19 It can be used in the oven as a casserole dish, or as a cover on the 3 Litre, 4 Litre or Small Classic Skillet. You can also use it to steam cook by placing it on the 6L Grater/Steamer Tray in the 6 Litre Roaster (while you cook a different dish in the 6 Litre) and covering it with the 5 Litre. This is an excellent way to cook flan be sure to cover with wax paper/foil to protect it from the flavor of the main dish. (see demonstration and recipes) Rice is also good when cooked this way cook uncovered so the flavor of the main dish enhances the flavor of the rice. Grater/Steamer Trays The Grater/Steamer Trays are also very useful and versatile. As a grater and/or shredder: use by itself or place on a bowl for grating/ shredding into salads, etc., or use with a Rena Ware utensil for grating/ shredding directing onto food to be cooked - Use for cheese, carrots, chocolate, parmesan, etc. As slicer use by itself or place on a bowl for slicing into salads, etc., or use with a Rena Ware utensil for slicing directing onto food to be cooked - Use for carrots, potatoes, cheese, etc. As a steamer - place on the 3 Litre, 4 Litre, Small Classic Skillet, 6 Litre or Large Frypan and place food on top of tray, cover with other inverted utensil - Use for fish, asparagus, etc. As trivet for steaming place upside down in the bottom of a utensil and fill the utensil with food - Use for corn on cob, broccoli, tamales, whole seafood, etc. Remove using the finger hole or the fork slot to lift without touching Milk Warmer The Milk Warmer comes with 2 covers and has two uses it can be used as regular water-less utensil using the Nutri Sensor cover, or it can be used as milk warmer using the special slotted cover design which prevents milk from boiling over and making a mess of your stovetop. The cover works like this: - When milk starts to boil and foam up, the foam bubbles up out of the holes and drips back down into the utensil instead of spilling up and over the sides of the utensil. - This makes it perfect for heating milk, hot chocolate, or for custards. 20 Unique Rena Ware Features and Benefits Please refer to the Reference Guide, pages Rena Ware has many unique features you will want to understand and share with your customers. Let s review some of the key features and benefits: Nutri Sensor valve The Nutri Sensor valve lets you know when the water has reached boiling temperature and a water seal is formed. You don t need to constantly watch the utensil, so you can turn your attention to other things in the kitchen. - The whistle alerts you to immediately lower the heat, preventing the food from burning accidentally. In Rena Ware we say Medium to low is all you need to know. That means you start on medium heat with the vent open. When the whistle sounds, close the valve, spin the cover, and turn the heat to low. The whistle will be a gentle whistle. Demonstrate by blowing into the whistle cup on a Nutri Sensor cover. You can also remove the whistle cup to use the Nutri Sensor in the open position as a steam vent for covered frying to keep the heat in and reduce spattering. Heat resistant phenolic handles and knobs Rena Ware s black handles and knobs are made of a special heat resistant material called phenolic. They can be used in the oven up to 200 C / 400 F so you can bake in Rena Ware as well as cook on a stove top. While they are heat resistant, they are not flame resistant. Care should be taken not to allow flames to touch the handles because they will blister. No-drip lip Rena Ware s unique rim design prevents food from spilling down the sides of the utensil and making a hard-to-clean mess. This is a great feature because it is such a common problem with many other cookware brands where food spills down and bakes onto the sides. The no-drip lip makes it easier to pour out of Rena Ware, for example, soups can be poured directly into bowls with no mess. It also makes Rena Ware utensils easier to clean because there is less baked-on mess. RW240 WW

21 Demo tip: To easily demonstrate the no-drip lip, ask the participant to pour out water from a utensil to see how it doesn t drip down the side. Flame-guards Flame-guards are handle protectors. And since they help keep handles away from heat coming up the sides of the pan, they keep handles cooler to the touch, making it easier to lift or carry the utensil without an oven mitt. Of course, if you cook on a higher heat for a long period of time, the handles will become hot and require a mitt. Warp resistant bottom The Rena Ware utensils in our basic sets have a slight indentation in the bottom which is called concavity. Since heat causes expansion, the concavity allows the bottom of the pan to flatten out when heated to provide a flat bottom surface. On some non-rena Ware utensils without concavity, the bottom will expand when heated, creating a bulge that causes the pan to rock back and forth on the cooking surface. With built-in concavity the utensil is always properly seated on the burner for exceptional even heating. Covers can be used as trivets Rena Ware covers can act as trivets for serving at the table. Each utensil fits in its own upturned cover. This allows you to put a hot utensil on the table and creates a nice presentation. Demonstrate this. Serving in the utensils also keeps food warm longer for serving throughout a meal. Another benefit is that it eliminates the need for separate serving dishes; therefore, there are fewer dishes to clean up. Storage Options Please refer to the Reference Guide, page 17 that shows stacking diagrams. Ask if somebody in the class could store a complete Gourmet set in two stacks in a space only 29 cm (11.5") high - make into a game. Today lack of storage space in our homes is becoming more and more of an issue. In the past, we often had more space for storage, but now storage space is limited. Rena Ware s Gourmet Set is designed to fit in a space only 29 cm (11.5") high and the Chef set can be stored in a space only 24 cm (9.5") high. RW240WW

22 All of the covers fit upside down in their own utensil for storage so the proper cover is always at hand. Plus because of their casserole design the base utensils stack neatly in the upside-down covers so they can be stored on top of each other. Therefore, you can store several utensils in a compact space or cupboard. In your Reference Guide you can see how to compactly store the following sets: If you have Chef I and Chef II sets available, ask one or two attendees to practice storing the utensils in the listed space. II.COOKING OPTIONS Nutri Water-Less Cooking So, how does our Nutri water-less cookware work? It all starts with the design and the precision fit between the cover and the utensil base. The covers are designed to allow a water seal to be formed, locking in the foods natural goodness and allowing it to cook in its own vapors rather than in water. To easily demonstrate a water seal, you can place a few droplets of water in the rim and spin the cover to show how it glides on water. Ask some participants to help you with a water-less demo. It will be best if you prepare two different types of food in the same utensil. You can cook two different types of vegetables side by side - see Examples of Cooking Demonstrations pages at the end of the Trainer s Guide. Once the participant has prepared everything, explain how water-less cooking works. RW240 WW

23 Here is how the water seal works. The unique rounded cover with its outer skirt is designed to ride on the inner rim of the utensil to create a shelf. Only a few tablespoons of water are added to the food. When the utensil is heated, steam rises up, hitting the inside of our self-basting, cover then condenses and drips back into the utensil only to turn into steam and rise again - when moisture collects on the rim it allows a water seal to form. The water seal creates a semi-vacuum which keeps air out and allows food to cook in its own natural vapors. The multi-ply construction distributes heat evenly across the bottom and up the sides allowing the use of lower heat settings to finish cooking the food. You can also cook two different foods in the same utensil without mingling the flavors. As an extreme example, you can cook apples and cabbage in the same utensil, apples in one half and cabbage in the other half and each will retain their own unique flavor. Cooking water-less has several advantages over other cooking methods. Boiling can dissolve water-soluble minerals and destroy flavor and color. Water-less cooking in natural vapors helps keep vitamins and nutrients in the food so you can get the benefits of the nutrients. Demo tip: Carrot test - Grate a few tablespoons off of a carrot into a clear glass of water to show how the orange beta carotene leaches from the carrot into the water. You can have someone taste the water to demonstrate that it tastes like a carrot. This shows that valuable nutrients can be lost by boiling. - You can also show the Healthy Cooking video which features a carrot test. Cooking on Medium to low heat also helps retain the natural juices which tenderize and flavor the meat. Rena Ware water-seal keeps air out and keeps the aroma and natural flavor in. Food tastes better. Fats and oils can make food harder to digest, as well as add excess calories. Excessive saturated fats may contribute to obesity which can in turn contribute to certain diseases. - Better taste from water-less cooking means less need for additional butter and oils. RW240WW

24 Water-less cooking with Rena Ware requires only a few simple steps. Exercise: 1. Rinse pre-washed vegetable in the utensil by leaving in a few tablespoons of water 2. Start on medium heat with the valve open 3. Create a water seal when the whistle sounds a water seal has been reached 4. Close valve, spin and turn heat to low And don t peek. When the cover is removed during the cooking period, heat and moisture are allowed to escape and the water seal is broken. Medium to low is all you need to know! In your Reference Guide, pages you will find a description of water-less cooking. Fat-Free Frying With Rena Ware s special Nutri-Plex construction you can fry without added fats or oils. - The secret is to pre-heat on medium before adding meat to brown. - Cover with the valve open, when the whistle sounds remove the cover and turn the meat over, it should release easily. If it sticks, wait a few more minutes until it releases naturally. - You will need to add some butter, oil or cooking spray for foods with little natural fat, such as eggs, most fish, pancakes, potatoes, etc. Water-less /Fat-free Cooking Benefits Since there is only enough water to create steam, the food retains more of its vitamins and nutrients they don t get dissolved away with the boiling water -you get the benefit of more vitamins and nutrients in your cooked food. Food also retains its natural texture and color, making it very flavorful because the delicious, natural flavor is retained there is less need for salt to enhance the taste. Fat free cooking saves on calories and saturated fat intake for a healthier diet, as well on the cost of the added fats. Help combat obesity by cooking delicious healthy alternatives to high fat, high sodium, high calorie foods. Cooking the water-less way allows you to cook more than one vegetable or fruit in one utensil - their flavors don t mingle. RW240 WW

25 Other Unique Water- less Cooking Methods In addition to water-less cooking for vegetables and fat free frying, there are other water-less cooking methods that are even more amazing and can help to convey the truly unique benefits of Rena Ware. Combos/stacks/ water-less steaming - Cook water-less in the bottom utensil and steam additional food on the steamer tray, cover with an inverted Rena Ware utensil, and cook another water-less vegetable on top. Cook a full meal in one stack. Please refer to your Reference Guide, page 20 for more details. Stove-top Baking you can bake a simple cake right in the 1.5 Litre or Large Frypan on the stovetop in less time than it takes in an oven (you can find a recipe for this in the Rena Ware Use & Care/Cookbook). Demo tip: Stove-top cake - You can cook a quick cake in the 1.5 Litre using a cake mix, frost by melting a choloate bar on top. Eggs you can make soft or hard boiled eggs in a just few tablespoons of water they come out tender, never rubbery like they can when you boil them. Pasta/grains cook with just enough water so there is none left after cooking, it is incredible how you can actually taste the flavor of the pasta, unlike the flavorless pasta you can get by boiling, plus you save time not having to wait for a large amount of water to come to a boil. It is a good idea to try some of these methods at home if you have Rena Ware cookware. It will make your story more compelling when you tell customers about the better ways they can cook with Rena Ware. Conventional Uses There are also many conventional ways to cook using Rena Ware. You can use Rena Ware for almost any type of cooking steaming, sautéing, stove-top roasting, frying, poaching, braising, simmering, slow cooking, stir-frying, double boiling, even boiling. Double boiler/bain Marie - There are 6 possible double boilers with the full Nutri system. - Double boilers are perfect for sauces, melting chocolate, frostings, custards. Dutch oven - There are 28 possible Dutch Ovens with the full Nutri system. - They can be used for roasts, slow cooking and other dishes that call for a Dutch Oven. RW240WW

26 Steaming - There are 18 possible steamers with the full Nutri system. - Some of the uses include steaming fish, shellfish, vegetables, tamales, corn on the cob. The number of Steamers, Dutch Ovens, etc. can be found on page 10 of your Reference Guide. III. DEMONSTRATION TIPS Now that you know some of the amazing things Rena Ware can do, how do you show your customers? There are several ways to demonstrate the various properties of Rena Ware cookware. Let s go over a few of the ones we discussed and then see if you have any others to share. Please refer to Reference Guide page 21. Heat conduction - Pour hot water in a utensil and pass it around to feel the heat go up the sides. Stack Cooking - To show how heat rises up the sidewalls, fully preheat a utensil (up to 5 Litre). Place pre-washed and dried chicken thighs on the inside sidewalls. The chicken will stick to the sides demonstrating how the sides have been turned into a cooking surface due to the multi-ply construction. The chicken will release easily when browned. The sidewalls will heat up as heat is conducted to the upper utensil. Water seal - Place a few droplets of water in the rim and spin the cover to show how it glides on water. No-drip lip - Ask the customer to pour out water from a utensil to see how it doesn t drip down the side. Carrot test - Grate a few tablespoons off of a carrot into a clear glass of water to show how the orange beta carotene leaches from the carrot into the water. You can have someone taste the water to demonstrate that it tastes like a carrot. This shows that valuable nutrients can be lost by boiling. - You can also show the Healthy Cooking video which features a carrot test. RW240 WW

27 Flour test - Show the Healthy cooking video to illustrate how other cookware can have hot spots and Rena Ware heats evenly. Stove-top cake - Cook a quick cake in the 1.5 Litre, frost by melting a chocolate bar on top. IV. OTHER PRODUCTS Jumbo Pieces/Gran Cacerola Show the Jumbo Pieces Broadside (RW 64) and show the pieces if you have those. Rena Ware offers several complementary pieces of cookware in addition to the pieces in our main sets. Best known are the Jumbo pieces and the Gran Cacerola. The Jumbo pieces are very large stockpots that can be used to cook large quantities of food. Construction The best construction for larger utensils is solid 18/8 stainless steel sidewalls with a thick Nutri-Plex diffusion bottom. Some of the advantages of this type of construction are: It allows for heating large quantities for long period of time and it retains heat better. It helps reduce the overall weight to make them more manageable. It is also good for utensils with large bottom surface areas (like the Gran Cacerola) to ensure very even heat over large surfaces for frying, rice dishes, casseroles, etc. You should note that the 6 Litre Roaster is also made of this same construction. Due to the large size and the large volume of food, water-less cooking is usually not recommended in utensils over 8 Litres, even though it may work. Jumbo sized pieces include: Queen Cooker 8 L King Cooker 12 L Super Deluxe Cooker 16 L Max Cooker 27 L Gran Cacerola 38 cm, 6 L RW240WW

28 - The Queen Cooker, King Cooker, and Super Deluxe Cooker are known as the Jumbo Set. - The Max Cooker and Gran Cacerola makes up the Super Jumbo Set. Combinations There are 4 combinations using the Jumbo sized pieces. Refer to Reference Guide, page 22. There are 21 combinations using the Jumbo pieces and the other products in the full 1-27L range. Classic Skillets Review the page 23 of your Reference Guide. The Classic Skillets have the same basic construction as the Jumbo pieces: solid 18/8 stainless steel sidewalls with a thick Nutri-Plex diffusion bottom. This construction works best for skillets and utensils with large bottom surface areas to ensure very even heat over large surfaces for frying, browning, cooking eggs, pancakes, etc. It also retains heat better. The Classic Skillets have long, stainless steel keep-cool handles. These specially designed handles stay cooler due to the split metal where the handle attaches to the pan. The exclusive Rena Ware ergonomic design produces a more comfortable feel and better control. Other handy features include a notch at the end of the handle so you can hang them to store. Or you can nest the Small Classic Skillet in the Large Classic Skillet for easy storage in a cabinet. The Classic Skillets also work with other Rena Ware utensils for convenient combinations. There are 24 combinations using the Classic Skillets with other products in the full 1-27L range. Show the reverse side of the RW35 Cookware Broadside with the Classic Skillets. V. WARRANTY AND REPLACEMENTS Warranty Turn to page 24 in your Reference Guide. Because Rena Ware maintains such high quality standards we are able to offer exceptional warranties on our products most notably the lifetime warranty on our stainless steel cookware. This lifetime warranty is a great selling point and is part of the added value you get with Rena Ware cookware. Warranty durations for other products vary, but in all cases if any defect ever does occur, we will replace or repair the product according to warranty terms. And we can point to our proud history to show that RW240 WW

29 Rena Ware always treats customers fairly and honors its warranty. The Warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials only, not abuse or wear and tear, which is not a quality issue. But it is important to be very clear that the Warranty duration varies by product. Some non-cookware products carry different warranty durations. The warranty duration can be found next to the picture of the product in the Product Brochure (RW760) and also in your Policies and Procedures Manual (RW950).
