Despite the improved reliability, a breakdown on March 16 caused major passenger inconvenience at UW Station when connection from the plaza to the platform by escalator was lost for 4 hours. Fare Evasion on Link was 3.1%, lower than the same period of last year but slightly above the 3% targeted range. During the month Link boardings increased 6.% compared to last year, which combined with fare enforcement officer vacancies resulted in a lower inspection rate. Sounder fare evasion was 1.% in March, which was lower than the same period of last year. Overall, combined fare evasion was 2.9%, within the targeted range. Fare inspections reached 8.2% of all rail passengers in March 218, below the targeted inspection rate of 1% primarily due to staffing vacancies and higher ridership. Sound Transit Union Station 41 S.
