2 Mission Making sure the City of Atlanta remains globally competitive has been one of Mayor Kasim Reed s key priorities since taking office in Re-opening the Office of International Affairs (MOIA) in 2013 was an important step toward reaching this goal. Under Chief of Staff Candace Byrd s supervision, our mission is to develop and maintain relationships with Atlanta s international community, foreign partners and global constituents in order to grow the city s visibility outside our borders and, ultimately, to create quality job opportunities for Atlantans. 4 Export Strategies Services: - Atlanta Metropolitan Export Plan - Export Seminars - One-one-one Export Consultations - Trade Missions: SEUS-Canada in June 2017 Mayor s Office of International Affairs Trade & Commerce MOIA, in partnership with Invest Atlanta, explores avenues for creating economic development opportunities to improve Atlanta s position as a hub for international trade and commerce. Our efforts focus on attracting foreign direct investment, supporting Atlanta-based companies in their export initiatives, and organizing trade and business missions to countries around the world. FY $230,000 of MEP Grants - 7 Missions Abroad - 50 Trade Consultations Since re-opening the Office of International Affairs and the launch of the Atlanta Metropolitan Export Plan, Atlanta s exports have increased by $1.3 billion. 4

Our efforts focus on attracting foreign direct investment, supporting Atlanta-based companies in their export initiatives, and organizing trade and business missions to countries around the world. FY Missions Abroad Trade Shows - 8 FDI Projects Since re-opening the Office of International Affairs a dozen foreign companies have established a presence in Atlanta creating about 2,700 jobs and representing more than one billion dollars in new economic output. 5

6 Global Connectivity Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is the busiest and most efficient airport in the world, generating a $34.8 billion economic impact for metro Atlanta and providing more than 63,000 jobs. Hartsfield-Jackson is a global gateway, offering nonstop service to more than 150 domestic and nearly 70 international destinations. These locales include major commercial centers in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Africa, and South and Central America. ATL also holds the distinction of being the first airport in the world to have served more than 100 million passengers in a single year. 7 International Events & Tourism The City of Atlanta ranks the fourth most visited city in the United States with more than 50 million visitors who contribute approximately $15 billion to the local economy supporting more than 230,000 jobs. Additionally, Atlanta s international tourism accounted for more than 1.2 million guests in 2016, contributing more than $1.4 billion to the local economy. Top countries include: the United Kingdom, China, Brazil, South Korea and Germany. 10 Our Impact Global Footprint Trade & Commerce Since 2013, Atlanta s exports have increased by $1.3 billion and a dozen foreign companies have established a presence in Atlanta creating about 2,700 direct jobs and creating more than one billion dollars in new economic output. Atlanta was ranked 6th in the world by A.T. Kearney s Global Cities Outlook named as one of nineteen knowledge capitals in the world by the Brookings Institution; and was selected to join the Rockefeller Foundation s 100 Resilient Cities network in 2016 alone. Global Connectivity In 2016, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport established two additional international destinations. International Events & Tourism MOIA has attracted seven events that will draw more than 50,000 visitors to Atlanta contributing approximately $15 million to the local economy. 10
