2 Welcome to Portsmouth Look out for our students in purple who will be able to answer any queries you may have. Our Open Days are an opportunity to get a genuine insight into life at the University of Portsmouth. You can tailor the day to suit your needs, picking what you want to see and when. On the Open Day you will be able to visit the departments to meet academic staff and attend a talk, take a coach or walking tour of the city and campus, visit some of our halls of residence, learn more about the University from our senior management, chat to some of our former and current students, tour our first-class facilities and speak to support staff at our student support services fair. { Registration Points There will be a number of Registration Points throughout the campus with staff to assist you with any enquiries, and to let us know you ve arrived. Please refer to our map to find their locations on campus. To register, please go to one of these locations between 9.30am 3.30pm. Please use public parking located at Gunwharf Quays, the Historic Dockyard, or car parks located in the city centre near the Guildhall and on-street pay and display areas close to registration venues. Gunwharf Quays are offering a discounted rate of 4 on 9 July only. 5 Student support services Student support services fair Our student support services fair will provide you with the opportunity to find out about the support, resources and facilities that are available at the University of Portsmouth. For any subject specific or admissions questions you may have, please speak to a member of academic staff at the end of your subject talk or at the subject information fairs see our A-Z course listings page for more information. Spinnaker Sports Centre Our student support services are Student Housing, Student Finance, Mature Students, Additional Support and Disability Advice, Employability (Purple Door is also open), Sports and Recreation, International Office Study Abroad and Exchanges, Library, Academic Registry, Information Services and Nursery (Wednesday only). Students Union Come and speak to our friendly staff in the Union hub and find out what you can get involved in outside of your academic studies. y You can have a tour of the Students Union, meet current students and staff, and chat to them about what it s like to be a student here. y Gather information about the activities, clubs and societies you can get involved in. y Pick up freebies from local outlets.

7 Applying to university What to do and when March-July 2014 { UCAS fairs Pick up prospectuses and speak to university staff. Early { Apply for financial support Apply at studentfinance. Don t wait until you ve received your exam results apply as soon as applications open! July-Nov 2014 { University Open Days Visit the universities you are interested in and find out more about the course. Feb-April { Attend Portsmouth Department Open Day If we make you an offer, we ll invite you to a Department Open Day where you can meet lecturers and find out more about the course. Sept 2014 onwards { Submit your UCAS application online. May { Decision time! You ll need to decide on your firm (first) and insurance (second) choice of university. Autumn 2014 onwards { Get the facts on finance Visit gov.uk/studentfinance and ugfeesandfunding to get the most up-to-date information. Apply in early.
