OPERATION LIFESAVER VIDEOS TRESPASS SHORT VIDEOS FOR PRESENTATIONS TRESPASSING All pieces in this section produced 2009 Created to provide presenters with a current visual showing the dangers of trespassing on railroad tracks. Talks about the 9,000 people who have been killed or injured in the last 10 years while trespassing. Provides situations for ATVs, Trestles (fishing), Snowmobiling and Shortcuts across tracks. Middle School and above. 2 minutes, 30 seconds (for use at the beginning or end of a presentation) TRESPASSING VIGNETTES (4 short pieces, can be use throughout presentation -YouTube versions) ATV A man in camouflage rides his vehicle on the tracks searching for game. Shows the dangers of trespassing on the tracks. Adult through middle school. 2 minutes TAKING A SHORTCUT Starts off like any afternoon once school is out. Three friends follow their Friend, who suggests they take a shortcut over the tracks. Tragedy occurs when one of the friends gets her shoe caught and is stuck on the tracks. We hear her friends screams as the train passes her location. Because it is shot from behind the train (and the students and the train were not actually on the tracks at the same time), viewers complete the story with their imagination. Middle School and above (not recommended for young children). 45 seconds 1
2 SNOWMOBILE FANTASY Snowmobile drivers learn the dangers of traveling on the railroad tracks from an animated snowman. Cross at the crossbuck only and ride the trails, not the rails. Middle School and above. 1 minute ON A MISSION TO GO FISHIN (TRESTLE) The trestle tempts the young man to sit down by the tracks and test his luck. Short video points out the discomfort of sitting on the tracks and the safety hazard. All audiences. 45 seconds FOR TEENS/YOUNG DRIVERS Order: CHEATING DEATH Copyright Amtrak Cheating Death is an Amtrak video designed to warn all drivers, but particularly teens, of the dangers and consequences of failing to obey highway-rail grade crossing signals. It is produced in a style that captures its audience by incorporating fast-paced editing techniques and music, re-enactments, news footage and natural sound to deliver the key messaging. Some scenes are grim, and should not be shown to sensitive audiences. Driving Age and above. Dr. Todd Thoma, who directs a Level I Trauma Center at Louisiana State University, points out what can happen when drivers let their attention drift from the road even for an instant. He discusses how a crash impacts the human body and why teens have the highest rate of traffic incidents of any age group.
