Not a bad thing if you're on a limited budget, but you asked... 4 Compared to the contentious us vs them alpine ski area mentality, TXC is a rare gem. Sure other areas offer weak passholder benefits, but TXC offers frequent BBQs, waffles (!), cookies and if that wasn't enough... after the lodge officially closed this spring, they continued to groom for 2-3 weeks JUST FOR PASSHOLDERS. I was so bowled over by that move. Good for locals and tourists. A healthy way to spend the day! It's the closest thing our town has to a "rec center." 2 The XC Center has always been a place that values community, education, athletics, and fun. The staff is dedicated and it is accessible. Someone with more pull than I do needs to get the fact across that there is a difference between trail maintenance and trail grooming. My comments through the season fell on deaf ears. Probably will not purchase a season pass for next season unless there is some indication of a change in trail maintenance. 5 TXC is one of the gems of our area. During the recent low-snow years when TXC was forced to close, the local xc community really suffered having to drive an hour to ski. TXC has handled the maintenance and operation of this venue on an A+ level in every way. As locals we are fortunate to have such a venue in our community and operated so well. Also, Tahoe Cross Country provides one more wonderful recreational experience to visitors which benefits our business community. In addition, the educational experiences Tahoe Cross Country provides both children and adults can not be praised enough. 23 Tahoe Cross Country has done an incredible job the last 18 years. Traffic: The school was in the original plan for the Highlands. People purchased homes on Polaris got discounted home prices when compared with other Highland streets, due to the school access. This was disclosed to them by the sellers and or Realty agent. So instead of suing the TCPUD, they should sue their seller/agent for non disclosure. Relocation of the center should keep this in mind too. 60 The current TXC/TCCSEA Board and staff have put their heart and soul into creating one of the (if not the best) best community recreation amenities. They have created a welcoming environment for all levels. They partner with all of the schools, ski teams, local agencies (SWEP) to provide incredible recreation and scientific opportunities. We are extremely fortunate that a dedicated Board and staff have poured endless volunteer hours, not to mention their own funds, to create a world class amenity. I am grateful that we have such selfless community members working on behalf of the rest of us. 61 Great people at TXC, great programs! I look forward to the new lodge hopefully in the location next to the high school. 5/16/2017 9:58 AM 63 I'd like to see TXC do more with discounts for TCPUD District residents, and to groom dog trails with equal priority to other trails (e.g., the Green). 64 We love the strider glider/biathlon program and the Junior Mountain Bike program for our son and we love mountain biking at the center. 65 TXC is a much needed community resource. The Board and staff do a great job running the area and much needed youth programs. The staff is always accommodating and friendly. 66 I love Tahoe xc and I hope it continues to be a place for the community to gather for healthy family activities, school educational programming, a state of the art cross country ski area that we can we can be proud to be a part of. Most major XC ski areas in North America have fat tire riding as part of their guest services( 28+) in the US.
