Setting Chief of Police NEWS RELEASE Corporal Tracey Duffy Research, Accreditation, Media and Policy Unit (302) Mobile phone (302) March 30, 2016 UPDATE Homicide Suspect Captured, Prides Officers from the New Castle County U.S. Marshals Task Force took Reginald Waters 30, of Dover into custody without incident. He was located yesterday evening at the Best Western/Galaxy Inn located in the 1700 block of East Lebanon Road in Dover. Reginald Waters was identified early on in the investigation as a suspect in the shooting death of Clifton Thompson, 31 which occurred in the Prides Court Apartments earlier this year. Colonel Setting stated The New Castle County Division of Police remains relentless in the pursuit of violent criminals who commit crime in New Castle County. This was yet another example of the professionalism and determination of our officers and detectives to safely and successfully apprehend a homicide suspect. The relationships we build with our federal counterparts and the Attorney General s office help in the pursuit of criminals who have no regard for jurisdictional agreements. Reginald Waters has been charged with murder in the first degree and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution where he is being held without bail.

2 ***Original Release with Updates*** UPDATE (2) Warrant Issued The New Castle County Police have issued an arrest warrant for murder in the first degree in regards to the deadly shooting investigation from the Prides Court apartment complex over the weekend. (Newark, DE 19713) New Castle County Detectives have been actively investigating the shooting death of Clifton Thompson last Saturday night (02/26). Early in the investigation detectives identified a potential suspect and as the investigation developed it led to the issuance of an arrest warrant. An arrest warrant has been issued for 29-year-old Reginald Waters of Dover (pictured below). Detectives are currently searching for him and ask anyone with information as to his whereabouts to call 911 immediately. 3 Reginald Waters February 28, 2016 UPDATE New Castle County Detectives are still actively investigating the homicide that occurred last night in the Prides Court apartment complex. Detectives have identified the victim as 31-year-old Clifton Thompson of Newark. Detectives are still currently investigating this case but are saying this is not a random act. Detectives are also aware of a carjacking that occurred in the vicinity of the complex near the time of the shooting but do not suspect that to be involved in this incident at this time.

(Newark, DE 19713) On Saturday night (02/27) at approximately 7:41 p.m., New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Chatham Lane in the Prides Court apartment complex in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. Responding units found a male in his thirties (30 s) suffering from gunshot wounds to his torso and lower extremity. New Castle County Paramedics responded to the scene and began to treat the victim before he was transported by Christiana Fire Company to Christiana Hospital. The victim was pronounced deceased at Christiana Hospital shortly after arrival. At this time, the victim s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The New Castle County Criminal Investigation Unit has responded to the scene and is beginning its investigation. This investigation is still developing and in its preliminary stages.
