7 At Our Junction Our unique neon welcome sign using our Graffiti Days Logo stands above our Gold Rush Trails Logo, Cariboo Sam with whom so many visitors have had their picture taken.

8 Cache Creek was incorporated as a Village in November, 1967 Letters Patent became effective as of November 28, 1967 The inaugural meeting was held in the dining room of the Oasis Hotel At the same time, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District was being formed

9 Interim Council On December 7, 1967 an interim council was sworn in by Commissioner Art MacLean to serve until the first election is held early in 1968 Art MacLean, who would later become Mayor, had served as a Commissioner since September, 1960 Interim Council was Alan Parke, Arthur Fehr, James Van Campbell, Tino Cassadio and Norm Vennard

10 First Election Held Election for the first Village Council was held on February 24, 1968 with five to be elected: Chairman for two year term Two for a two year term Two for a one year term

14 Village Office The first Village Office was established in the basement of the new Community Hall Community Hall was built in the previous year (1966) David MacCormack was appointed as the first Clerk-Treasurer

15 Order of Business New Council sworn in on March 6, 1969 Norm Vennard was appointed the first TNRD rep for the Village of Cache Creek George Benna chaired Parks, Recreation & Public Safety

16 Titles Changed Village of Cache Creek no longer has chair & councillors, instead as a result of a province-wide decree designed to eliminate confusion, through having so many reeves, mayors, chairmen, etc. they will now be known as Mayor & Aldermen. Ashcroft-Cache Creek Journal March 16, 1968

18 Sewage Disposal top of the list The Village authorized Willis, Cunliffe, Tait & Co of Victoria to undertake a sewage feasibility study upon which this rapidly growing community will depend. March 22, 1968 Village advertises for its first Works Foreman

19 First Official Trip to Victoria The entire Cache Creek Village Council will travel to Victoria on June 12, 1968 to meet with Mr. Miard, Deputy Minister of Highways to discuss pending highway proposals within the Village and how they will affect the Village.
