10 Qualifications Statement Due in September Following the July vote by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors to continue as a partner in Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is moving forward with the selection of a design-build contractor. The Airports Authority issued a Request for Qualifications Information (RFQI) for Phase 2 in mid-july. It is posted at More than 250 people, including potential bidders and subcontractors, attended a Pre- Submittal Conference at the Dulles Marriott to learn more about the process. What happens next? Qualifications statements are due in early September. In October, the Airports Authority will develop a short list of teams who are deemed qualified to bid Price proposals will be due in April The construction contract is expected to be awarded in May Phase 2 construction is expected to be completed five years after the contract is awarded. Project Overview The Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project is a 23-mile extension of Metro s Orange Line. It is being built in two phases. Phase 1 is from East Falls Church through Tysons Corner to Wiehle Avenue in Reston. Phase 1 construction is 79 percent complete and is expected to open in late Phase 2 Version 3 September 2012 Expanding Metrorail to Reston Town Center, Herndon, Washington Dulles International Airport and Loudoun County Phase 2 will extend westward from Wiehle Avenue into Loudoun County.
