About 8 Webelos and their families attended as well as a lot of siblings of Troop 69 scouts. About 50 folks in all attended, hung out, ate snacks and had a great pizza dinner. 3 Mesa Trail Hike Some of the Philmont guys did the Mesa Trail in early Dec. Here are some of the pictures. As you can see, it was a beautiful day in Colorado! Two reasons for the Scout Merit Badge Plan are 1) to give you more skill in the things you like to do; 2) to give you a chance to try out new activities, so that you can find new things which ;you really like. -Baden-Powell Thanks to Bob M. for the pix! KNOTS!! COH Rock Climbing Fun Nite Boy Scout Troop #69 held its quarterly Court of Honor at the Tri City Elks Club on Dec 15th. This event has been characterized by a potluck/holiday dinner and great fun. This year was no exception with about 50+ folks in attendance. In addition, there were 5 Webelos and their families who participated. Congratulations to all the scouts who earned rank advancements and merit badges. Well done! Monday Jan 5th will be another fun nite the troop is going to do rock climbing at the Boulder Rock Gym. Cost is ~$10 and time is 7-8:30 pm Purpose of Boy Scouts The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. 4 3rd Flatiron Climb Xmas Tree Fundraiser Thanks Ralph, Jin, Curt, Robert! Making it even easier to recycle your tree, Boy Scout Troop #69 will pick up untrimmed Christmas trees from Lafayette residences on Saturday, January 10, for a $10 donation. Call or bsat_69@hotmail.com between December 15 and January 9 to make an appointment. We will distribute flyers around Lafayette in mid-late Dec hopefully we can make a lot of money on this fundraiser!! Philmont Adventures 2004 Troop 69 has managed to secure two crews for the summer of Age requirements: be 14 by Jan 1 of year attending OR complete 8th grade and be 13 during year of participation. Currently, there are 9 scouts and 7 adults that have expressed interest in going on the trek. Dates: July 15th 27th, 2004 Cost: $475 per participant. Note that we may go down a day early and spend a nite in a hotel near Philmont. (cost for hotel ~ $25/ person). Payment Breakdown: $50/person due Aug 15th, 2003, $212.50/person due Oct 15th; balance due April 15th, Page 4 Merit Badge Classes Update The scouts will have opportunities to spend some of their time on Monday nights learning and earning merit badges. What merit badges do you want to earn? We will be reviewing what merit badges troop scouts think would be best to start working on for the next few months. One idea from a parent was to have a binder with merit badges in progress for each scout. If all the adults were signed up for each required merit badge, then the requirements would get signed off a bit quicker. What do you think?. What would you like to accomplish by the next Court of Honor?
