Katelyn M BEKO 3. Michelle T BEKO 4. Reinhart KONNERTH I overheard scanner traffic from NCEMS of a squad run to Trinter Rd for an unresponsive subject not breathing. I was in the area and responded to the residence. Upon arrival, I met with Katelyn in the driveway. She was visibly upset (crying and shaking). She stated she came home and found her father, Ronald Beko, laying on the bathroom floor and he was not breathing. Katelyn directed me to the back bathroom. As I walked into the residence I saw a trash can knocked over with several facial tissues on the living room floor next to the couch. The back bathroom was off the master bedroom which was in some disarray. When I walked into the bathroom I found Ronald laying on the floor next to the toilet. Upon checking it was obvious Ronald was deceased. He had lividity and rigor mortis had set in. I checked Ronald for a pulse and did not find one. He was also cold to the touch. Ronald was crouched down leaning toward his right side wedged between the toilet and wall. The toilet seat was in the upright position. His legs were angled with his left leg more extended - his right leg was more underneath his torso. Ronald's left arm were hanging down while his right arm was resting on the floor. His head was down resting on his right arm. There was dried blood on his right arm appearing to have come from Ronald's face. He was wearing a gray T-shirt and blue jeans which were pulled down to his ankles. He had white underwear briefs that were pulled up. Ronald had black tennis shoes on. His feet were facing to the east to southeast - his head was facing toward the west. The toilet was along the west wall and he was wedged along a wall to the north of the toilet. NCEMS arrived along with Vermilion Twp FD to assist. I informed the medics of my findings. NCEMS's initial observations believed that Ronald had been deceased for several hours. A friend of Ronald's, Reinhart Konnerth, arrived at the residence. Reinhart stated Katelyn had called her mother, Michelle Beko (divorced from Ronald), who in turn called Reinhart. He stated that Ronald suffered from congestive heart failure and was taking several prescribed medications (listed). Reinhart further stated that Ronald was to have surgery in the near future for the CHF. NCEMS then contacted Dr Brian Baxter. Dr Baxter advised NCEMS that Ronald's body could be released to Riddle Funeral Home in Vermilion. NCEMS informed me that Dr Baxter would followup with Ronald's medical records in the near future. Upon further investigation, I learned the following. Ronald was taking care of Katelyn's dog which at the time was on a leash outside the back patio door. I had learned that the dog was

8 inside the residence when Katelyn arrived home from Columbus this evening. Katelyn works in Columbus and stays with Ronald from time to time due to his health condition. Katelyn arrived home, shortly after 10:00 pm this evening, and found Ronald on the bathroom floor. Katelyn stated she was concerned when she walked in the residence and found the trash can knocked over on the living room floor. It was later believed that the dog may have knocked over the trash can at some point as the dog was known for getting into the trash. Katelyn stated she last saw and talked with Ronald Tuesday evening. Deputy Gillespie arrived to assist and took photographs for me. We found Ronald's cell phone in the garage; however, there was no power to it. We were not able to determine the last time Ronald spoke with anyone on his cell phone. Reinhart stated he would attempt to find out that information and contact me at a later time. Michelle arrived at the residence. She stated she would take care of closing up the residence after we left and would have Katelyn stay with her for the night. Riddle Funeral Home arrived to remove Ronald. Once Ronald was moved we observed a small pool of blood on the bathroom floor where his head was resting. There was some blood around Ronald's mouth. NCEMS believes Ronald may have vomited some blood before he passed away. Deputy Gillespie took photographs of the blood. I took Ronald's Ohio driver's license, which was located in his wallet of his back blue jeans pocket. It was turned over to the detective bureau. Page: 8 of 8
