We have 60 members. 22 members attended the October general meeting. NOTE: Dues are now due for LADIES LUNCHEON The Ladies Luncheon on Tuesday, November 20 at the Beaver Street Brewery. 2 PAGE 2 CLUB EVENTS Dec 2 Sun ROUTE 66 CHRISTMAS PARTY Dec 8 Sat FLAGSTAFF HOLIDAY PARADE OF LIGHTS Dec 8 Sat During and following the parade Ed and Pat Wiebe are hosting once again a fabulous Holiday Lights Dinner at their home. Please see page 10 for more information and directions to their home. This is a fun holiday event! RUMBLINGS AROUND THE FLYWHEEL Club Elections for 2019 were held at the November General Meeting. Susan Davis is now our Madame Vice President, and the Board members are Maggie Bortree, Kathy Federico, Jerry McGlothin, and Pat Wiebe. All other officer positions are the same as this year. We voted on who to make our donations to for Both The Poore Clinic and Paw Placement of Northern Arizona are to each receive $500. For clarification on the Humane Societies reorganization, please see page 10. Hats off to new member Curtis Deibel for supporting most every event since he become a member. We love to see his red tow truck which honors his heritage and our club. We have 5 confirmed rides and 2 possible for the Holiday Lights Parade on Saturday, December 8th. The club voted to not support the Food Box Stuffing event at the local supermarkets. Culivers has opened, but currently the lines are long. After the excitement has waned, the club may do a cruise there in Spring. Richard Federico will advise the Chamber of Commerce our parade crowd concerns regarding the encroachment of children in several of the pinch points, i.e. the Beaver to Aspen and Aspen to San Francisco turns. Also the area by Heritage Square is of concern. Luminaries go on display December 16. Finger foods, etc will be available at Sallie s from 3:00 to 5:00. Contact Sallie Page for more information.

4 PAGE 4 OCTOBER LADIES LUNCHEON. The October Ladies' Luncheon was held at the new Oregano's in the Safeway Plaza off of Milton on Tuesday, October 16th. We weren't able to celebrate anyone's birthday this month, but had a good time nonetheless. The service was excellent and 10 of us braved the first snow of the season to get together and enjoy a good meal. Those attending were: Alice St. Germain, Lacey Ebersole, Pat Wiebe, Ann Piper, Donna Veihdeffer, Candy Howard, Sallie Page, Linda DeBusk (Alana's friend), Alana Velez and Kathy McKee. Please Note: We will be meeting on Tuesday, November 20th at the Beaver Street Brewery to celebrate Alana Velez and Sue Miller's birthdays and in December, we will be meeting on Tuesday, December 18th at Little America for a gift exchange and to celebrate, Mona Keksis, Jann Blankenship, Kathy Federico and Jackie Clark's birthdays. 6 PAGE 6 BINGS BURGER RUN October 20, 2018 By Alan St. Germain A group of us went down to Bing's in Cottonwood. There was a few of us from the Route 66 car club and several from other car clubs. It was a Great time!

8 PAGE 8 NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY PARADE October 27, 2018 by Bob Bortree Maggie and I have not participated in the NAU Parade for a number of years because of Tequila Sunrise and the raucous support from parade attendees. NAU had moved it to their campus a few years ago and much to our surprise, we had a Great Time! Club members participating in the parade were: Richard Federico and his guarddog in their 81 Delorian, Juergen Burmeister with his 99 BMW Z3 Coupe, Curtis Deibel and his railroader friend John driving the 65 GMC Tow Truck,and Maggie and me in our 55 Chevy. The weather was outstanding, and the parade route flat (no clutch eating). It was a very well organized event with the coordinating being done by mostly young ladies; the parade went off like clockwork. The crowd was mostly families with small kids having a good time and with no party gatherers. As a personal note, I would like to extend our thanks and admiration to the parade coordinators - those girls made us feel proud about our future leaders. Events like this including parades, car displays, cruises, etc, are a great opportunity to get to know fellow club members and promote our club. 9 PAGE 9 CHINA STREAMING PROJECT OCTOBER 31, 2018 This apparently was a live streaming telecast to China showcasing Route 66 as a show & tell with an English translation. Curtis Deibel and Bob Bortree both exhibited their rides and were interviewed by the Chinese reporter ( I just can t imagine what Bob sounds like in Chinese). MY FACTORY 5 COBRA Club member Matt Mirabile submitted the following picture and description of his ride. It s equipped with a Summit 302, Weiand supercharger, and a 5 speed Tremec tranny. At only 2200 lbs, this equates to Very Fast.

10 PAGE 10 CLARIFICATION OF A BARKING ISSUE Paw Placement of Northern Arizona has been selected to run the Coconino County and City of Flagstaff animal shelter, signing a 5-year contract to provide animal welfare services for both the City and the County. The new shelter, to be called High Country Humane, will be located at the former Second Chance Center for Animals site on Highway 89 in Flagstaff. CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE INVITATION From Ed & Pat Wiebe We will host the annual Christmas Open House again this year after the Holiday Lites parade. We want to invite all the car club members to come even if they are not in the parade or attending the parade. We will provide the main dishes of ham & turkey, breads, tossed salad, and drinks. I would like guests to bring a side dish of their choice. I will not have desserts,appetizers or many vegetable or salad side dishes to go with the ham. Our address is 3365 N. Antler Crossing. We are in Lockett Ranches, off of Ft Valley Road, Hwy 180, just past Sechrist school and the big black train in front of the Pioneer Historical Museum. Directions to our home are as follows: Turn right onto Quintana Road. Go to the second street and turn left.( Antler Crossing). Proceed to the end of the street,1 block, and go up the hill. We are on top of the hill. There are 2 trees at the bottom of the hill with white lights on them. Park tight. Parking in front of the garage is ok Our phone numbers are ( Pat) , ( Ed).
