A NIGHT AT THE FORT Friday October 25, :00 pm 8:00 pm On thi night, Mobile hitory come to life. Viitor can interact with figure from Mobile Colonial Hitory. COLONIAL DAY Friday March 28, :00 am 1:00 pm See what life wa like in Colonial Mobile at thi educational event. Artifact, text, audio, video, and hand-on interactive in the Mueum permanent exhibit help Mobile hitory come alive. Our Special Exhibition Gallery alo change periodically to inure that viitor will dicover omething new with each returning viit. Open Tueday through Saturday, 9am 5pm, and Sunday 1pm 5pm. Admiion i $4 per tudent and chaperone. Teacher and bu driver receive free admiion. Site of Hitoric Fort Condé Fort Condé i a modern day building that wa created to look like the French fort that tood in the ame location over two hundred year ago. It i a ection of the fort recreated at 4/5 cale and opened on July 4, 1976 a part of Mobile United State Bicentennial Celebration. It erve a a mueum for Mobile Colonial Hitory. The Fort ha recently been renovated and now ha new permanent exhibit. Open 7 day a week from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Admiion charged. Pleae call for detail. Phoenix Fire Mueum The newly reconditioned Phoenix Fire Mueum paint a picture of the hitory of the Mobile Fire Department from it beginning to the preent. Included in the exhibit, i a plaque commemorating the firefighter from Mobile Fire Recue Department who have died in the line of duty. Open Tueday and Thurday 9am 4pm. Admiion i free. One chaperone i required for every 10 tudent. Large group may need to viit the mueum in hift. All tour mut be cheduled at leat two week in advance and are cheduled on a firt come, firt erved bai. Self-guided tour of group of more than 10 people are not permitted at thi time. Eye Spy Scavenger Hunt Tour 1 hour (Pre-chool 3rd grade) Thi docent or taff member led tour incorporate a viual cavenger hunt deigned with young learner in mind. On thi artifact finding adventure, we teach tudent about what mueum do and what artifact are. Student then look through the mueum permanent exhibit to find pecial artifact, and alo have the opportunity to try the mueum interactive exhibit component. When the cavenger hunt i completed, all tudent get a mall prize! Pleae call (251) to chedule a tour. Foottep Through Time Scavenger Hunt Tour 1½ hour (4th grade 8th grade) Thi cavenger hunt through the permanent exhibit, Old Way, New Day: The Story of Mobile i deigned for cooperative learning. The tour i led by a docent or taff member who begin by giving direction and handing out upplie to tudent. The docent give an overview of the exhibit, and the tudent work together to find the anwer to quetion in that exhibit. The tour can alo include the mueum uptair permanent exhibit if the group ha enough time. When the cavenger hunt i completed, all tudent get a mall prize! Pleae call (251) to chedule a tour. Permanent Exhibit Tour 1½ hour (9th grade 12th grade) The Permanent Exhibit Tour i led by a docent and i a lecture-dicuion type of tour of all the mueum permanent exhibit. On thi tour, tudent alo have the opportunity to try the mueum interactive exhibit component. Pleae call (251) to chedule a tour. Temporary Exhibit Tour ½ hour to 1 hour The type of tour and the grade level that it i appropriate for will depend upon the exhibition. Pleae call (251) to inquire about tour for current temporary exhibition. Behind the Scene Tour in the Artifact Storage Area ½ hour to 1 hour (9th grade 12th grade) Pleae call (251) to inquire about a Behind the Scene Tour in the Artifact Storage Area. Tour may be elected from thoe lited below, or the Curator of Education will work with chool educator to tailor a tour to a pecific theme. Education taff member facilitate the leon. Thi option cot jut $1 per tudent in addition to the admiion fee. Quilt Square (30 minute) Student will learn about the deign, ymbolim, and hitorical ignificance of quilt a they follow direction to create their own quilt quare. Recommended grade: K - 6 TRADE BEADS (30 MINUTES) Student will learn about the hitory of trade bead and their ignificance in the colonization of the New World a they follow direction to make their own trade bead bracelet. Recommended grade: 3-9 Quill Pen (30 minute) Student will learn about the hitory of writing a they make their own quill pen and then put it to the tet. Recommended grade: 3-9 The Mueum Store (30 Minute) Marbled Paper Activity (30 minute) Student will learn the hitory and the ecret of the ancient art of paper marbling and then ue authentic method to make their own marbled paper. Recommended grade: 4-12 Native American Pottery (1 Hour) Student will learn about the type of pottery made by the Native American, the firt people to live in the Mobile Bay area. They will follow direction to make their own pottery uing the ame technique a the Native American. Recommended Grade: 4-12 Lunch (30 Minute) Cloed on Monday You may top for a lunch break at any of our three facilitie.
