These were good oedar posts and it would tako two days to go and get back home* But when he did come home we would have a few new clothes and some flour and coffee. One stormy night some n»n came for the Doctor as a woman was sick; he did not want to go but the men got hla horse, put the saddle on it and commanded him to go. When he got started one rode along -en eaofc side of h.'un and whipped his horse and made him travel faster than he wanted to. The. baby died but the woman lived. It eeemed that when anyone in the neigh borfc&od butchered a beef the Indians could smell the blood for the shifts» vrould hardly get the beef skinned before it some of the Indians would be there* of course, they wanted some of the meat and were glad to parry off the head and all or any of the seat that anyone was willing to give them* The Indians love beef but do not care so much for po*k. IUCINDA INTERVIEW tree, that was the only one that I saw him kill* We were out getting some wood and making posts* Mr* McQueen was preaching one time after he had conducted Sunday school, and he had on a pair of over-alls,one leg had gotten torn off and anyway it made an impresalon on me to see the preacher standing up before hi* congregation with one leg of his pants four inches shorter than t'lie other* No one had fine clothes in those days -' and Mr* McQueen was a sinpere preacher and a good honest man. We built a frame house and many timea the neighbors owould come and Mr. McQueen would preach for us. He is living in California today.
