3 118 th Surprises Richmonders The 118 th Basic Recruit Class passed out turkeys in different neighborhoods the day before Thanksgiving. As a special surprise, the recruits also handed out turkeys to lucky random individuals across the city! A Thank You from Citizens Against Crime Good evening Chief, I pray all is well. Again, I want to thank you and your team for partnering with Citizens Against Crime Inc. to deliver Thanksgiving Baskets to city residents who have been impacted by a homicide, some other traumatic event or just in need of a basket of food. Your officers were exceptionally helpful, patient and caring toward all residents. I know that their positive attitude toward persons in need is the norm so I was especially happy to view the excellent media coverage by WWBT 12 regarding the deliveries. Please give our sincere thanks to the following officers for their outstanding participation: Lieutenant Cynthia Hayes, Captain Dan Minton, Officer Debbie Allen, Officer Matthew McHugh, Officer Jason Kuti, Officer Jerry Baskette and Chelsea Rarrick. 4 Latino Citizens Academy Graduation Congratulations to the 24 th Latino Citizens Police Academy! There were a total of 15 individuals who graduated. Over the course of seven weeks, the participants learned more about the Richmond Police Department and a variety of other topics. Helping Those in Need While working in Mosby Court last week, Officer Joachin Okonkwo was approached by two women. One woman told Officer Okonkwo she was having issues with her work check and didn t know what she was going to do for Thanksgiving. Officer O saw how worried and upset she was. He asked for her address and went grocery shopping after work for the women. The family was so happy! said Officer O. This is what community policing is all about. Blue Line Times Page 4
