1 TO: All Band Members as listed below Friday 31 Aug Sun 2 Sep 2018 RAF 100 Pipes and Drums RAF Brize Norton TASK: Band to take part in a massed pipes and drums arena display at RAF Brize Norton on Saturday 1 September as part of the Station s Families Day celebrating 100 years of the RAF. The Event includes Brizefest. on the Saturday evening and this is available for us to attend (There is an entrance cost for this event). See the website at (Amongst other acts, you will be excited to learn that Chesney Hawkes is performing Who??) DRESS: Day Wear (leave pipe ribbons on) Please bring capes. Please wear a band tee shirt/polo shirt to arrive in and to aid identification ARRIVAL: Please arrive on the Friday evening (or if Saturday before 1000hrs. Do not go the main gate but use the side gate as indicated on the attached photo. You will be met by our contact and issued with the necessary passes and directions for getting to the accommodation. SECURITY: You will be entering a military base so the usual security requirements apply. You must bring an official Photographic Identity Document with you ie a UK driver s licence or a passport (Not a bus pass or other club membership card etc!). Keep your station pass on you at all times when moving about the station. Details of who they are expecting and car details have already been passed to the security team at the station. You cannot bring any additional people without prior warning. CONTACT: Mark Bisset TIMES ETC: Please arrive around 2000hrs on the Friday evening and we will be met by Mark. ACCOMM: Accommodation has been arranged for us on the Station for Friday and Saturday nights. Meals will be available and these will be (I believe) on a payment basis but very inexpensive. Again, we will be briefed on this on arrival. It is suggested that you bring your own items to ensure you are self-sufficient ie a toilet roll, a towel, flip flops for using communal washing facilities, Mobile phone charging kit etc. You will probably be sharing rooms.

2 DIRECTIONS: POST CODE: CHARITY: RAF Brize Norton is near Witney in Oxfordshire. One suggested route avoiding the M25 and M4 is to go across country via the A11 then across to Bedford, Buckingham, Milton Keynes Bicester and towards Oxford (A34 and then onto the A40). You should be able to pick up signs for Witney and then RAF Brize Norton from there. As you approach the main entrance turn left onto the Carterton Road and the Side Entrance (Gate 3) should be on your right. OX18 3LX This is a fundraising event for the RAF Benevolent Fund and Mark is trying to get all the band members get sponsorship and contribute. Please consider this and I will discuss our thoughts and perhaps put a band donation together if you are interested in helping a worthy cause. If you are, the money is being collected by Mark and not via the RAFBF stand on the day. This is so the Massed Pipes and Drums total can be identified. Any donation is entirely voluntary. It is suggested that everyone shares cars as much as possible and passengers share fuel cost with the driver.
