1 The following Ordinance was submitted for introduction by Brent Callais in regular session convened on March 8, 2005: PROPOSED ORDINANCE The following Ordinance, having been previously introduced and published, was offered for final adoption by Phillip Gouaux, seconded by Tommy Lasseigne: ORDINANCE NO AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF THE BUILDING LOCATED AT 200 WEST 2 ND STREET IN THIBODAUX, LOUISIANA, MORE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE WHITNEY BUILDING FROM WHITNEY NATIONAL BANK TO HOUSE THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY S OFFICE AND A PORTION OF THE SHERIFF S OFFICE OR FOR ANY OTHER PARISH USE; TO AUTHORIZE PURCHASE FOR THE APPRAISED VALUE UP TO TWO MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND ($2,500,000.00) DOLLARS AND NO/100 LESS THE AMOUNT OF TWENTY THOUSAND ($20,000.00) DOLLARS AND NO/100 PREVIOUSLY PAID AS A DEPOSIT; TO AUTHORIZE THE EXPENDITURE OF AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND ($500,000.00) DOLLARS AND NO/100 FOR THE PERFORMANCE AND COMPLETION OF THE RECOMMENDED RENOVATIONS AND REPAIRS ON SAID BUILDING; TO AUTHORIZE THE PARISH PRESIDENT TO SIGN ANY AND ALL NECESSARY SALE DOCUMENTS; TO FORWARD A CERTIFIED COPY TO ALL PARTIES; AND TO PROVIDE FOR PUBLICATION IN THE OFFICIAL JOURNAL. WHEREAS, the Lafourche Parish District Attorney s Office and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff s Office are in need of additional office space; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that the property belonging to Whitney National Bank and located at 200 West 2 nd Street in Thibodaux, Louisiana is the most suitable and feasible option for providing the needed office space; and WHEREAS, the Parish Council has determined that the price offered by the current owner is a fair price; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Lafourche Parish Council, convened in regular session on March 22, 2005, that: SECTION 1. Authorization be hereby granted to the Parish President to sign any and all documents necessary to acquire the property legally described herein for the sum up to TWO MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND ($2,500,000.00) DOLLARS AND N0/100, minus TWENTY THOUSAND ($20,000.00) DOLLARS AND NO/100 paid as a deposit upon the signing of the purchase agreement wherein the Lafourche Parish Council, upon payment of the sum due under said agreement will obtain full and just title to the following described property: I. Lots Six (6) and Eleven (11) on the map entitled Plan of the Town of Thibodaux made and executed by James B. Grinnage, Surveyor, dated May 1, 1942, recorded at Entry No of the records of the Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court, various fractional interests in said lots having been acquired by First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Thibodaux, vendors predecessor, as follows: 1. A certain fractional lot of ground, situated in the Southeastern portion of Lot Six (6) as shown on the James B. Grinnage plan of the Town of Thibodaux and which fractional lot is more particularly shown on a plat prepared by Bobby F. Warren, Surveyor, dated February 22, 1978, entitled Survey Plat Showing Property to be purchased by First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Thibodaux, from the City of Thibodaux, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
