Today, the carrier faces growing competition, however continues to operate a global network that provides cargo transport services and passenger services to approximately 15 million international and domestic passengers annually with a fleet of 53 aircraft. The carrier s focus lies within the Pacific Rim where its network reach extends from New Zealand to Australia, Asia and the Americas. Domestic operations are the focus for the carrier, operating more than 400 daily flights to 21 New Zealand destinations, with Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown being its main cities. 4 200 WEEKLY RETURN DOMESTIC FLIGHTS Jetstar Airways Jetstar first launched in New Zealand in December 2005 flying Trans-Tasman services between Christchurch and Sydney. Jetstar now operates more than 50 weekly Trans- Tasman return services between Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington in New Zealand to Gold Coast, Melbourne, and Sydney in Australia. Domestic New Zealand operations were launched on 10 June 2009 and Jetstar now accounts for up to 12% share of the domestic flight market, with over 200 weekly return domestic flights on sale between Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington, Queenstown, Nelson, Napier, New Plymouth and Palmerston North. On the domestic front, Jetstar competes with Air New Zealand, Air Chathams and Sounds Air. 19 TRANS-TASMAN DESTINATIONS Qantas Airways Qantas Airways, the national carrier of Australia, operates a network of 19 destinations across the Trans-Tasman to New Zealand using its own aircraft. The carrier does so through Jetconnect, a wholly owned subsidiary based in Auckland which operates Trans-Tasman services between New Zealand and Australia under the Qantas brand. Qantas currently offers 50+ daily services domestically from New Zealand to Australia from destinations: Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Qantas operations across the Trans-Tasman are not limited to its own aircraft, and are enhanced with agreements with the following airlines to extend its reach across the South West Pacific: Jetstar aircraft operating to and within New Zealand A320S 180 Economy Bombardier Q300 Fiji Airways: Between Fiji and New Zealand Solomon Airlines: Between Solomon Islands and New Zealand Air Calin: Between New Caledonia and New Zealand Air Vanuatu: Between Vanuatu and New Zealand Air Nuigini: Between Papua New Guinea and New Zealand Air Tahiti Nui: Between Tahiti and New Zealand 50 Economy (Operated by Eastern Australia Airlines for JQ) Qantas aircraft operating to and within New Zealand Boeing Jet Connect 12 Business 162 Economy

6 84 TRANS-TASMAN FLIGHTS Virgin Australia Virgin Australia operates approximately 18,000 seats and 84 flights across the Trans-Tasman to New Zealand on a weekly basis. Using its own fleet, Virgin Australia operates direct services to Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Queenstown and Wellington. Virgin Australia, in partnership with a number of airlines including Delta Air Lines and Etihad, expand their reach into New Zealand with a total of 22 airports, ranging both international and domestic. However the seven year trans- Tasman alliance of Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia will come to an end in October 2018 as current regulatory approval for the alliance expires and the parties will not apply for renewal. This makes way for Virgin Australia to introduce exciting changes across the Tasman in the near future. The carrier has strengthened its presence in the market through its partnership alliance with Air New Zealand. Under this agreement, the two carriers jointly operate Singapore-Auckland services, an agreement that has been further enhanced for 2018, when a third daily frequency is set to be added into the market. The additional service is expected to increase capacity on the route by up to 40% and an additional 165,000 seats per annum. 8 Emirates Airlines Emirates have long operated into the New Zealand market via services from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. The airline offers approximately 21 flights a week across the Trans-Tasman. This is supported by its agreement with Qantas Airways allowing codeshare services across the Trans-Tasman. In 2016 Emirates branched out and launched direct Dubai- Auckland services offering 7 flights a week, catering to strong demand. With the development of its agreement with Qantas, Emirates now plans to pull out of Trans-Tasman services, including Auckland-Brisbane and Auckland- Melbourne from March 2018 and instead plans to offer additional capacity into the country, with possible direct services to Christchurch. From mid-june 2018 Emirates will fly daily from Auckland to Bali year-round. Emirates ER aircraft will add around 130,000 seats across first class, business class and economy over a year on the route. Emirates will have services onwards to Dubai and their wider network, catering for the New Zealand traveller and inbound market.
