It will be equipped to handle large capacity airplanes and cargo, effectively managing a future passenger traffic capacity of 40 million. 9 Infrastructure - Metro rail The INR 6,207 crore Metro Rail Project has been accorded approval and the work has been initiated on ground The Rail Project which will be completed in about 3 years is aimed at decongesting the fast increasing traffic density in Bangalore. The Rail is to bring respite to the traffic in the central part of Bangalore which contains the CBD and non-cbd areas There will be adequate parking made available for private vehicles and feeder systems will be established by way of buses and coaches

The region is situated at the Nandi foothills between Chikballapur and Doddaballapur in the Muddenahalli/ Kanivenarayanapura area which is 10 minutes drive from the project site. The ITIR is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Karnataka s history. Total cost is expected to be one lakh crore rupees ($22 Billion). The initiative will provide direct employment to 1.2 million people and indirect employment to 2.8 million. The Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS) has recently issued Expression of Interest (EOI) for developing the region.
