Study Tour Goal: To develop deeper Indonesia/Australia parliamentary and political party links; To facilitate learning exchange at the highest levels between Australian and Indonesia political party staff on party organization, processes and practices informed and enhanced by improved skills and knowledge base of participating political party representatives. 1
2 Study Tour Description: CDI will conduct an 8-Day study tour for invited representatives from four of Indonesia s major political parties. The itinerary will include Newcastle, Sydney and Canberra, and will be based around attendance and observation of the NSW Liberal Party State Council to be held in Newcastle October 22-23, The Program will also involve meetings with the other major Australian political party secretariats, aiming to include specific briefings on issues such as party polling, focus groups, platform and policy development, membership, and relationship between central party organization and branches. Observation of state parliaments and federal parliament hearings will also feature in the program. Study Tour Outcomes The program is designed to improve political governance and strengthening political processes and practice in the partner country. It will allow delegates to compare the ideals and practices of party organization in Australia and Indonesia, and discuss the building and maintaining of transparent and participatory internal party structures, processes and practices with likeminded practitioners.
